Iterative interference suppressor for wireless multiple-access systems with multiple receive antennas
This invention teaches to the details of an interference suppressing receiver for suppressing intra-cell and inter-cell interference in coded, multiple-access, spread spectrum transmissions that propagate through frequency selective communication channels to a multiplicity of receive antennas. The receiver is designed or adapted through the repeated use of symbol-estimate weighting, subtractive suppression with a stabilizing step-size, and mixed-decision symbol estimates. Receiver embodiments may be designed, adapted, and implemented explicitly in software or programmed hardware, or implicitly in standard RAKE-based hardware either within the RAKE (i.e., at the finger level) or outside the RAKE (i.e., at the user or subchannel symbol level). Embodiments may be employed in user equipment on the forward link or in a base station on the reverse link. It may be adapted to general signal processing applications where a signal is to be extracted from interference.
ADVANCED SIGNAL PROCESSORS FOR INTERFERENCE CANCELLATION IN BASEBAND RECEIVERS
An interference canceller comprises a composite interference vector (CIV) generator configured to produce a CIV by combining soft and/or hard estimates of interference, an interference-cancelling operator configured for generating a soft projection operator, and a soft-projection canceller configured for performing a soft projection of the received baseband signal to output an interference-cancelled signal. Weights used in the soft-projection operator are selected to maximize a post-processing SINR.
Method and device for adjusting signal of receiving device in mobile communication system
The present invention relates to a method and a device for adjusting a signal of a receiving device in a mobile communication system and, more specifically, to a method for adjusting a signal of a receiving device in a mobile communication system, the method comprising the steps of: receiving signals from at least two antennas; calculating at least one correlation value by using the received signals; obtaining a delay difference value between the signals based on the at least one calculated correlation value; and outputting adjusted signals generated by adjusting the received signals based on the obtained delay difference value.
RAKE RECEIVER AND RELATED METHODS
A radio frequency (RF) rake receiver may include a plurality of diversity receive paths, with each diversity receive path including a respective rake receiver despreader, and a tracking loop. The tracking loop may be configured to generate a composite timing signal based upon the rake receiver despreaders, and provide the composite timing signal to the diversity receive paths.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONVERTING ANALOG RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) SIGNALS TO THE DIGITAL DOMAIN IN A MULTIBAND AND MULTICARRIER WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
Methods and systems are provided for converting wideband signals. In an example system, a wideband signal that includes one or more narrowband signals may be received and handled, with the handling may include selecting a subset of signal processing circuits, from a plurality of signal processing circuits in the system, with the number of selected signal processing circuits being less than the total number of signal processing circuits in the system. Only the selected signal processing circuits are then enabled, such that all remaining signal processing circuits are not enabled. Signal processing adjustment may then be applied, via the subset of signal processing circuits, only to the one or more narrowband signals, such that a remainder of the wideband signal is not adjusted. The handling of the received wideband signal may include separating the one or more narrowband signals from the wideband signal.
Processing signals in a wireless communications environment
One aspect provides a method of processing a signal transmitted over a channel in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving at a receiver the signal transmitted over the channel, estimating at intervals at least one parameter of a time varying communication environment of the system, monitoring at least one processor-related criterion of a processor at the receiver, and selecting a signal processing function from a plurality of signal processing functions implementable by the processor. The selecting of the signal processing function is based on both the at least one parameter and the at least one processor-related criterion. Each signal processing function comprises a plurality of code blocks which process the received signal. Each code block of the plurality of code blocks comprises a sequence of instructions for execution by on a processor platform of the processor.

Method and apparatus for selectively applying interference cancellation in spread spectrum systems
The present invention is directed to the selective provision of interference canceled signal streams to demodulating fingers in a communication receiver. According to the present invention, potential interferer signal paths are identified. Signal streams having one or more potential interferer signals removed or canceled are created, and a correlation is performed to determine whether the strength of a desired signal path increased as a result. If the correlation indicates that the strength of a desired signal path was increased by the signal cancellation, the interference canceled signal stream is provided to the demodulation finger assigned to track the desired signal path. If the correlation determines that the strength of the desired signal path did not increase as a result of performing interference cancellation, the raw or a different interference canceled signal stream is provided to the demodulation finger.
