Lean Deterministic Beam/Power Feedback During 5G/6G Initial Access
20230239854 · 2023-07-27 ·

For efficient communication in 5G and 6G, transmission beams are to be aligned with each user device as soon as possible during the initial access procedure. Prior-art procedures for downlink beam alignment consume large amounts of power and resources. Therefore, low-complexity formats and procedures are disclosed for a new user device to indicate its angular position relative to the base station upon entering the network. In one embodiment, the SSB message is broadcast isotropically, along with test signals which are transmitted in different directions. The user device indicates which test signal is best received, thereby indicating its angular direction. In a second embodiment, the test signals and feedback messages are appended to various entry messages after initial contact. Using either method, the base station and user device can then aim their beams toward the other, for enhanced signal quality thereafter.

DELAY COMPENSATED ANALOG BEAM FORMING NETWORK

Techniques are provided for a delay compensated analog beam forming network. A transceiver implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes an array of circuit elements. Each of the circuit elements includes an analog frequency converter to up-convert an analog signal to radio frequency (RF) for transmission and to down-convert an RF signal to an analog signal for reception. The circuit element also includes an analog beam weighting circuit configured to apply a beam weight to both of the analog signals to form a beam for transmission and reception. The circuit element further includes an analog delay element configured to impart a time delay to the analog signals. The time delay is based on the position of the circuit element in the array and is selected to compensate for propagation delay of the analog signals along the electrical path that couples the circuit elements of the array, reducing beam squint.

Embodiments herein disclose a method performed by a network node for handling communication in a wireless communication network. The network node selects a precoder based on mutual information related to channel capacity of a channel, wherein the mutual information is computed in a closed-form computation within a set interval. The network node transmits data over the channel using the selected precoder.

11558089 · 2023-01-17 · ·

Methods, media, and systems are provided for a priority-based multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) pairing threshold for codebook beamforming. The methods, media, and systems identify a plurality of user device candidates for a user device pairing. A first user device of the plurality of user device candidates having a higher priority than another user device of the plurality of user device candidates is identified. A correlation of the first user device with a second user device of the plurality of user device candidates is determined to be below a threshold. Based on determining that the correlation is below the threshold, the first user device is paired with the second user device for sharing a resource.
