Layer 1 reference signal received power reporting during a discontinuous reception operation

A wireless device receives a report mask indicating a transmission of a layer 1 reference signal received power (L1-RSRP) report limited to a time period when a discontinuous reception (DRX) timer is running. The L1-RSRP report is transmitted, at a first time, in response to the DRX timer running at a predefined time period before the first time. The L1-RSRP report may include, for example, an L1-RSRP value and a reference signal index associated with the L1-RSRP value. Ata second time, a configured L1-RSRP report transmission is skipped in response to: the DRX timer not running at the predefined time period before the second time and the report mask.

Method and apparatus for beam management

Beam measurement and reporting by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving configuration information for a channel state information (CSI) framework from a base station (BS) and identifying reporting settings and resource settings configured for the UE based on the received configuration information. The reporting settings configure a beam measurement and reporting configuration. The resource settings configure one or more reference signal (RS) resources for beam measurement. Each of the RS resources represents a transmit (Tx) beam. The method further includes performing beam measurement based on the identified reporting and resource settings, generating a CSI report based on the identified reporting and resource settings, and transmitting the generated CSI report to the BS.

Method and device for mitigating interference in unlicensed band

A wireless device in an unlicensed band receives from a base station a request signal requesting initiation of downlink (DL) transmission. If carrier sensing (CS) is performed and a wireless medium idles, the wireless device transmits to the base station a response signal accepting the initiation of the DL transmission. The CS is performed with respect to a receive (RX) beam direction obtained from the request signal.

Method and apparatus for lightweight messaging during initial synchronization, discovery, and association in directional wireless systems

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a discovery signal transmitted from a connection point (CP) via a directional beam. The discovery signal may include first information (including beam sweep configuration information) related to the CP. The apparatus then transmits an association signal to the CP based on the beam sweep configuration information and monitors for a resource grant from the CP based on the transmitted association signal. Alternatively, the apparatus transmits a discovery signal via a directional beam to a user equipment (UE). The discovery signal may include first information (including beam sweep configuration information) related to the apparatus. The apparatus then receives an association signal from the UE based on the beam sweep configuration information and determines a resource grant for communicating with the UE based on the received association signal.

Coordination for partial reciprocity estimation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first device may receive a first reference signal from a second device and may generate a channel status feedback message based on the first reference signal. The first device may bundle the second reference signal and the channel status feedback message and may transmit the second reference signal and the channel status feedback to the second device. The first device may initiate a data transfer with the second device based on transmitting the second reference signal and the channel status feedback message.

The method, performed by a terminal, of supporting beam-based cooperative communication includes: receiving, from a base station, configuration information for measuring quality of a beam; receiving first reference signals regarding desired channels respectively corresponding to a plurality of transmission beams received from the base station, and second reference signals regarding interference channels respectively corresponding to a plurality of transmission beams that interfere with the plurality of transmission beams received from the base station; and measuring quality of a beam regarding the plurality of transmission beams received from the base station, based on the configuration information, the first reference signals, and the second reference signals.

Techniques for using reflecting nodes to cancel interfering signals in wireless communications

Aspects described herein relate to identifying an aggressor node that transmits interfering signals that cause interference to signals received at the node, communicating a configuration for applying a phase shift to the interfering signals for forwarding to the node from a reflecting node with the phase shift applied, and communicating, from the reflecting node, the interfering signals with the phase shift applied to at least partially cancel the interference to the signals received at the node.

Techniques to enhance user equipment (UE) beam scan

A wireless communication device can expedite beam scans for beam management. The wireless communication device can perform a beam scan using a first beam reference signal of a synchronization signal block (SSB) and a second beam reference signal associated with a physical broadcast control channel (PBCH) of the SSB. For each synchronization signal block (SSB) index (e.g., transmit beam) monitored by the wireless communication device, the wireless communication device can obtain a respective beam quality metric on each of two or more respective receive beams using at least the first and second beam reference signals. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.

Radio link monitoring across multiple frequencies in wireless communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a narrowband device may communicate in a wireless communications network according to frequency hopping techniques. Devices using narrowband communications and frequency hopping techniques may maintain separate radio link monitoring (RLM) processes, beam failure detection (BFD) processes, beam failure recovery (BFR) processes, or combinations thereof, for multiple bandwidth parts (BWPs) or hop regions of a full channel bandwidth. Such separate processes may provide for enhanced estimates of beam failures per BWP or hop region, which may be used to enhance communications reliability.

Listen-before-talk beam overlap measurement procedures

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device, such as a base station or a user equipment, may identify an energy detection threshold for a sensing beam associated with a channel access procedure, such as a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure. The wireless device may also identify a set of transmit power parameters for one or more transmit beams. The wireless device may determine a degree of overlap between a coverage area of one or more transmit beams and a coverage area of the sensing beam. The wireless device may adjust the set of transmit power parameters, the energy detection threshold, or a combination thereof based on the degree of overlap. The wireless device may perform the channel access procedure based on the determining, the adjusting, or both.
