A MIMO communications system for communicating with a UE located inside a physical structure. The communication system includes a node comprising two node antennas. The node is configured for LOS wireless communication with at least first and second repeaters. The first and second repeaters each have a) an antenna provided outside the physical structure for outdoor MIMO communication with the node and b) a leaky cable provided inside the physical structure for indoor MIMO communication with the UE.

A repeater device for New Radio (NR) communication, includes a baseband processor that establishes a communication link with a base station and decodes control information that is received from the base station through a control channel. The baseband processor further aligns a timing reference of the repeater device with that of an NR cell frame for an uplink or a downlink time division duplex (TDD) switching, based on the decoded control information. The baseband processor further selects and forms one or more donor beams of RF signals at a donor side of the repeater device and one or more service beams of RF signals at a service side of the repeater device, based on the decoded control information and the aligned timing reference with that of the NR cell frame for the uplink or the downlink TDD switching for communication in an NR frequency band.

The technology described herein is directed towards using time of flight data to validate path integrity of a wireless communications path between authorized entities, in which a reconfigurable intelligent surface is part of the signal path between a base station and a user equipment, and using signal strength data for evaluating whether the path is compromised. In one example, an eavesdropping entity can tap into part of the signals to and/or from a base station and user equipment via a reconfigurable intelligent surface. As part of monitoring for an eavesdropper, the path is validated based on the time of flight data, and the measured signal strength is evaluated with respect to the expected signal strength. A drop in the expected signal strength indicates a potential eavesdropper. In one implementation, generative adversarial network models are used in the monitoring of the signal path.

The system includes at least one signal relay device communicatively located between a base station configured to send and receive signals on a first channel and user equipment configured to send and receive signals on a second channel, wherein the at least one signal relay device is configured to: operate in contested environments; receive a base station signal on the first channel while operating in the contested environment; transform the base station signal on the first channel to the second channel; send the base station signal to the user equipment on the second channel while operating in the contested environment; receive a user equipment signal on the second channel; transform the user equipment signal on the second channel to the first channel; and send the user equipment signal to the base station on the first channel.
