A device is operated in a cellular communications network, such that the device acts as a relay in a backhaul link between at least one first base station and the network. The device is configured to: detect signals transmitted by base stations in the network; identify the at least one first base station amongst the base stations; exclude the identified at least one first base station, and select one of the base stations based on the properties of the detected signals; and establish a connection with the selected base station.

COMMUNICATION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ECHO SIGNALS MANAGEMENT

A communication device includes a donor receiver that receives a first beam of input radio frequency (RF) signals from a base station or a network node. The communication device further includes a service transmitter that transmits a second beam of RF signals in a first radiation pattern to a user equipment (UE). The communication device further includes control circuitry that detects an amount and a direction of echo signals at the donor receiver. The control circuitry applies polarization to the second beam of RF signals transmitted to the UE and calibrates the polarization to minimize the echo signals at the donor receiver. A second radiation pattern is generated for the second beam of RF signals and communicated to the UE based on the calibrated polarization. The communication of the second beam of RF signals in the generated second radiation pattern further reduces the echo signals at the donor receiver.

Method and system for mitigating interference by rotating antenna structures

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining data regarding interference detected in a received communication signal, and performing polarization adjusting by rotating one or more radiating elements of an antenna system such that an impact of the interference on the antenna system is minimized. Other embodiments are disclosed.

RF repeater and mobile unit with cancellation of interference from a repeated signal

A radio frequency repeater device includes a receive antenna that receives a receive signal having a first frequency. A transmit antenna transmits a repeat signal at the first frequency, the repeat signal being an amplified version of the receive signal. A signal filter communicates with the receive antenna and transmit antenna, the signal filter being operable to amplify quadrature and non-quadrature components of an input signal associated with the repeat signal to produce a filtered repeat signal. A coupler combines the receive signal with the filtered repeat signal in such a way that the filtered repeat signal cancels interference from the transmitted repeat signal in the receive signal.

REPEATERS WITH CIRCULAR POLARIZATION

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Wireless communications systems may support communications between various network nodes via repeaters to extend coverage to areas that may be otherwise uncovered. A repeater may forward a signal using a circular polarization type. A receiving network node may receive a signal transmitted with a circular polarization type using a linear antenna configuration without a risk of the signal being orthogonal to the linear antenna configuration, and therefore not received by the receiving network node. A repeater may report, to a control entity, a capability of the repeater to forward signals using a set of one or more polarization types (e.g., including at least one circular polarization type), and in response the repeater may receive scheduling information indicating for the repeater to forward a signal in a given communication resource using a particular polarization type (e.g., a particular circular polarization type).

METHODS FOR LOW-COMPLEXITY DYNAMIC POLARIZATION COMBINING

Method and apparatus for dynamic polarization combining. The apparatus identifies a first polarization of a first set of antenna elements on a first side of an antenna module having two or more sides. The apparatus identifies a second polarization of a second set of antenna elements on a second side of the antenna module. The apparatus determines, for an antenna layer, a dynamic polarization combination between the first set of antenna elements having the first polarization with the second set of antenna elements having the second polarization. The apparatus communicates with a network node via the antenna module based on the dynamic polarization combination.

Cellular and public safety repeater

Technology for a repeater is disclosed. The repeater can include a first-direction signal path configured to amplify and filter a signal in a first-direction band using a first bandpass filter. The repeater can include a second-direction signal path configured to amplify and filter a signal in a second-direction band using a second bandpass filter. The second-direction band can be spectrally adjacent to the first-direction band. The first bandpass filter and the second bandpass filter can provide filtering to isolate the first-direction band from the spectrally adjacent second-direction band.
