Dynamically adjusting the transmission mode in a satellite communication system
A system and method for transmitting a data stream between a server and a user terminal, comprises at least one satellite gateway associated with a satellite router communicating with at least one satellite terminal associated with a terminal router, wherein the terminal router is configured, when it receives a stream request from a user terminal, to search for it in its memory resources and, if appropriate, transmit it to the user terminal, the satellite router is configured to transmit the request to the server, estimate a popularity of the stream and transmit a message of correspondence between the stream and broadcasting parameters then convert the stream into a point-to-multipoint stream adapted to the broadcasting parameters, the terminal router is configured to convert point-to-multipoint streams into point-to-point streams and transmit them to the user terminals.
Secure, energy-efficient public blockchain
The basic idea of this invention is to send one or more cubesats into orbit, each equipped with a hardware security module. Users would send their transaction to the cubesats which would collect them into blocks, sign them, and send (bounce) them back to earth (and to one another). Bounce Blockchain provides scalability through sharding (transactions will be partitioned over cubesats). Because modern hardware security modules are tamper-resistant (become inoperable if tampered with) or tamper-responsive (erase their keys if tampered with), take their keys from physical processes, and have been validated, socio-technical protocols can ensure that it is infeasible to forge the identity of a hardware security module in a cubesat with another cubesat. If, however, some cubesats are destroyed, the blockchain will continue to execute correctly though some transactions will be lost. New cubesats can be sent up in short order as they are quite cheap to launch. If, in spite of these assurances, some cubesats fail traitorously, the blockchain can survive through algorithms similar to Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance techniques.
Non-Access Stratum Connection Handling for Wireless Devices
A wireless device receives, from a base station, access network information. The wireless device determines, based on the access network information, an access network type. The wireless device selects, based on the access network type, a non-access stratum (NAS) period value from between a first NAS period value associated with a terrestrial network (TN) access network type; and a second NAS period value associated with a geostationary earth orbit (GEO) access network type. The wireless device sends, to an access and mobility management function (AMF), a first NAS request message. The wireless device starts, based on the sending the first NAS request message, a NAS period using the NAS period value.
Infrastructure equipment, communications devices and methods
A method for operating an infrastructure equipment forming part of a wireless communications network is provided. The infrastructure equipment is a non-terrestrial network part of the wireless communications network configured to transmit one or more spot beams to provide a wireless access interface for transmitting signals to and receiving signals representing data from a communications device within a coverage region of a cell or one of the spot beams, the spot beam forming a cell. The method comprises broadcasting system information for receipt by the communications device, the system information including information relating to at least one of a cell or a spot beam of a neighbouring infrastructure equipment and a second spot beam of the infrastructure equipment, wherein the system information is broadcast in accordance with at least one predetermined condition.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AVOIDING DISEQC CONFLICTS
Method for avoiding DiSEqC conflicts in a receiver connected to a coaxial cable wherein the receiver utilizes the Unicable communication, the method being characterized in that it comprises the steps of: obtaining a list of an identified group of receivers, the group being organized according to an identified order; using a second communication channel (102) to communicate with at least one other receiver from said identified group; receiving a token over the second communication channel (102); transmitting a DiSEqC command over the Unicable bus only when said token has been received; after executing said DiSEqC command (405), transmitting said token, over the second communication channel (102), to the next receiver identified by said order.
Flight data assisted active antenna system for air-to-ground applications
Methods and apparatuses for controlling radio resources of radio units in air-to-ground mobile communications systems that include at least an aircraft carrying a transceiver station and a ground basestation, apt to communicate with each other. The radio units are provided with beamforming and/or massive MEM antenna systems, and are controlled by the apparatuses using control data. The apparatuses are configured to receive flight data related to the aircraft, estimate a timed trajectory and a required data rate, as a function of the flight data. Then the apparatuses determine a sequence of control data for said antenna systems to form radio beams and/or connectivity spots directed towards said transceiver station, respectively to the ground basestation, while the allocated data rate is at least equal to the required data rate. The sequence of control data is then provided to respective antenna systems.
SATELLITE-BASED COMMUNICATION NETWORK FOR REDUCING BANDWIDTH USE AND COMMUNICATION LATENCY
A communication network, such as a satellite-based communication network, comprises a gateway transceiver that communicates with a plurality of remote locations via the communication network, and a gateway controller which operates to generate website content data based on website data for a website and link accessible data at the website. The gateway controller further operates to control the gateway transceiver to transmit the website content data to the plurality of remote locations via a broadcast communication. Thus, bandwidth usage to provide the website content data to multiple remote locations is reduced. Also, the network terminals at the remote locations make the transmitted website content data available locally without the need to establish a communication link with the gateway transceiver, thus reducing latency in providing the content.
Cellular Core Network and Radio Access Network Infrastructure and Management in Space
A cellular network management system manages terrestrial base station communications and orbital base station communications with user equipment to provide wireless service and allocate links among terrestrial base stations and orbital base stations according to base station availability determined from state space predictions.
TRANSMISSION METHOD, RECEPTION METHOD, TRANSMISSION APPARATUS, AND RECEPTION APPARATUS
A transmission method includes: generating a frame for transfer which stores one or more first internet protocol (IP) packets storing content, and one or more second IP packets each including reference clock information which indicates a time for a playback of the content; and transmitting the generated frame through broadcasting. In the generating, header compression is performed on the one or more first IP packets and the header compression is not performed on the one or more second IP packets.
CHANNEL BONDING IN AN ADAPTIVE CODING AND MODULATION MODE
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for channel bonding in an adaptive coding and modulation mode. In some implementations, a system receives packets of a data stream for transmission in a satellite communications system. The system determines a modulation and coding arrangement for the received packets. The system generates code blocks that include data from the packets of the data stream. The system assigns the generated code blocks for transmission on different carriers. One or more of the different carriers is operated in an adaptive coding and modulation mode to support multiple modulation and coding arrangements within a single carrier. The system transmits the code blocks on the different carriers using the determined one or more modulation and coding arrangements.
