A method, carried out by a processing device(s), is used for assisting in placing beams to cover a plurality of locations on Earth. The method comprises: grouping the plurality of locations into cliques by applying a clique problem resolution technique to an undirected graph whose vertices correspond to the plurality of locations and wherein two vertices of the undirected graph are connected by an edge if they correspond to two locations that are regarded as coverable by a single beam; assigning a beam to each of at least some of the cliques; and outputting parameters usable to control at least one beam source to form the assigned beams. The invention also relates to a system, computer program products, and a method and system for simulating a beam placement.

System for distributed transfer of uplink state data

A satellite provides communication between user terminals (UTs) and ground stations that connect to other networks, such as the Internet. Because the satellite is within range of many UTs at any given time, many UTs are in contention to use an uplink to send data to the satellite. Each satellite manages uplink contention by maintaining state data representative of the uplink resources allocated for use. As satellites move, handovers take place, transferring communication services from a first satellite to a second satellite. Before a handover, a first satellite sends state data to a UT. The second satellite is also informed about the UT. After the handover, the second satellite provides the UT with priority access to the uplink to send the state data to the second satellite. The second satellite uses the state data to resume management of the uplink, eliminating the need for time consuming link setup.

DYNAMIC CELLULAR NETWORK INTERFERENCE MANAGEMENT

Various arrangements for performing dynamic resource blanking on a cellular network to prevent satellite communication interference are provided. Interference modelling can be provided by a satellite operator that operates a satellite. A cellular network can receive orbital data for the satellite. Based upon the orbital data for the satellite and the interference modelling, the cellular network can blank physical resource blocks (PRBs) for uplink communication with various base stations.

RANDOM ACCESS IN A NON-TERRESTRIAL NETWORK

Methods and apparatus for adjusting a random access response window in a non-terrestrial network are provided. A method comprises receiving information that includes a gNodeB type parameter and a random access response window length parameter. The method further comprises determining that a gNodeB is a non-terrestrial gNodeB. The method further comprises determining a minimum round trip time (RTT). The method further comprises determining a time offset for a random access response window. The method further comprises determining a length of the random access response window based on the received random access response window length parameter and a non-terrestrial network based table. The method further comprises setting the random access response window based on the time offset. The method further comprises monitoring a downlink control channel on monitoring occasions within the random access response window.

SPECTRUM MANAGEMENT FOR SATELLITE CONSTELLATIONS

A device and method for managing communication frequencies, including generating a geographical grid with a plurality of cells and allocating communication frequencies to the cells. Each of the communication frequencies is used for communication between a satellite and a ground device or ground IoT modem. A communication frequency allocated to one cell is different from the communication frequencies allocated to each of the immediately surrounding cells. A set of communication frequencies is selected for communication between the satellite and ground devices based on a ground track of the satellite. The selected set is transmitted to the satellite to communicate with the ground station located in a cell with the communication frequency allocated to that cell.

SATELLITE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING RADIO RESOURCE OF NON-TERRESTRIAL NETWORK

A satellite communication system and a method for managing radio resource of a non-terrestrial network are provided. The method includes: transmitting, by a first satellite, a first resource scheduling assignment when leaving a service area of the non-terrestrial network; receiving, by a second satellite, a second resource scheduling assignment corresponding to the first scheduling assignment when entering the service area; and accessing, by the second satellite, the radio resource according to the second resource scheduling assignment.

SERVICE CONNECTING ANTENNAS TO REMOTE REGIONS

A Data Delivery Service (DDS) is described, which is a service in a multi-tenant environment that transmits satellite data between a satellite antenna and a user instance. The DDS transports the antenna data to a different region, which allows a user to reuse their infrastructure for multiple antenna sites, thereby, reducing their infrastructure footprint and costs. Gateway instances can be launched at scheduled times in different regions and a secure communication channel can be established between the gateway instances to establish inter-region communication.
