RAMEWORK FOR HANDLING SIGNAL INTEGRITY USING ASE IN OPTICAL NETWORKS
A method and system is described. A signal indicative of a failure of a first channel within a plurality of channels of a transmission signal traversing a signal working path in a network is received. The signal working path has a headend node, a tail-end node and an intermediate node. The first channel has a frequency band and a power level prior to failing. The signal working path is associated with a protection path. The protection path includes the intermediate node, optical cross-connects, and a transmitter supplying (ASE) light. The transmitter is activated to supply the ASE light within a frequency band and having a power level corresponding to the frequency band and power level associated with the first channel. The ASE light is supplied to a cross-connect, such that the cross-connect provides a transmission signal including the ASE light.

The present disclosure relates to a PON power meter using multi input type AWG, including a first input part into which a first signal is input, wherein the first signal has S optical signals whose wavelengths are different from each other; a second input part into which a second signal is input, wherein the second signal has P optical signals whose wavelengths are different from each other; an AWG that distributes the input signal to M output waveguides according to wavelength band; a detection part configuring (S+P) detection channels by connecting a photodetection element to only (S+P) output waveguides of the M output waveguides of the AWG; and an output part that outputs a strength of the signal detected by the detection part.
OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND PROTECTION METHOD FOR OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
The optical communication system includes the optical distribution device (100) provided between the wavelength routing device (30) and the optical multiplexing/demultiplexing device (40). The wavelength routing device outputs the optical signal input from the port on the wavelength variable subscriber device side to the port uniquely determined by a combination of the wavelength of the optical signal and the port to which the optical signal is inputted. The wavelength variable subscriber device can execute the first protection for switching the wavelength of the optical signal to be transmitted and received to the spare wavelength different from the operating wavelength when the wavelength variable subscriber device and the wavelength variable communication device (10) are disconnected. Then, the optical distribution device can execute the second protection for switching the optical fiber transmission path (50) to be used when the wavelength variable subscriber device and the wavelength variable communication device are disconnected.
OPTICAL TRANSMISSION LINE DETERMINATION APPARATUS, OPTICAL TRANSMISSION LINE DETERMINATION METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM
A length calculation unit calculates, based on a transmission time required for an optical signal transmitted from a first optical transmission apparatus to a second optical transmission apparatus through an optical transmission line to be transmitted through the optical transmission line, a length of the optical transmission line. A wavelength dispersion calculation unit calculates a wavelength dispersion per unit length of the optical transmission line based on a wavelength dispersion of the optical signal received by the second optical transmission apparatus and the length of the optical transmission line. A type determination unit determines a type of the optical transmission line based on information indicating a correspondence relationship between a value of the wavelength dispersion per unit length and the type of the optical transmission line and the calculated wavelength dispersion per unit length of the optical transmission line.
