Biopsy needle
A biopsy needle consisting of a main portion, a linking portion and a front end portion wherein the main portion has a first bore of uniform circular cross-section, the front end portion has a smaller second bore of uniform circular cross-section and the linking portion has a shoulder between the first bore and the second bore. The outer surface of the linking portion is tapered. The open front end has multiple projecting teeth which serve to cut. There may also be serrations on the outer surface of both the front end portion and the linking portion. The biopsy needle has slits or holes to facilitate the expansion of the captured biopsy specimen and to inject cement for bone support. The needle assembly has a non-slip grip on multiple surfaces and pins hold components in place during rotation of the assembly.
Intraosseous Modular Power
An intraosseous access system, including a needle configured to drill into bone via rotation of the needle, and a driver. The driver can be configured to impart rotational power to the needle. The driver can include a power converter and a first power source connected to the power converter. The system can further include a second power source external to the driver and selectively connectable to the driver. A method of drilling through a bone includes providing the intraosseous access system, applying rotational power to the needle, and placing the needle in contact with the bone. The method can further include coupling the second power source to the power converter so that power from the second power source is combined with power from the first energy source.
Half handle bone access needle
A handle device is provided comprising a first wing and a second wing. The first wing and the second wing are configured to pivot about a common axis to one another. The first wing has one or more first ridge, and a first one or more clearance spaces. The second wing has one or more second ridges and a second one or more clearance spaces. The one or more first ridges is configured to be received within the second one or more clearance spaces and the one or more second ridges is configured to be received within the first one or more clearance spaces when the first wing is pivoted about the common axis to the second wing in a folded configuration.
Manual intraosseous device and method for introducing a bone portal to a predetermined depth in a bone
A manual intraosseous (IO) device for introducing a bone portal to a predetermined depth relative to a surface of a target bone, and methods for using same. The device is manually actuated and configured to limit the depth of penetration of a bone portal into a bone cortex independently of an applied driving force and independently of subcutaneous tissue thickness surrounding the bone cortex, while providing terminal feedback that the bone portal has been penetrated to the predetermined depth. The device has transfusion facilitating components that remain fixed at the penetration site following penetration of the bone portal to the predetermined depth and releasable components that are separated from the transfusion facilitating components prior to a transfusion operation. The device may also include a stabilizer, or base, that allows a health practitioner to easily locate the insertion site and allows low profile fixation of the IO transfusion component (IO catheter).
Device for the collection of biological material, in particular bone marrow and especially the stem cells present in the bone marrow
A device for collecting biological material, in particular bone marrow and especially stem cells, includes an external cannula for guiding an internal sampling cannula. The external cannula has a mantle wall defining an internal lumen and a distal terminal, and a plurality of openings distributed axially and circumferentially in different longitudinal and/or angular positions. The internal sampling cannula has a mantle wall that defines an internal lumen and that can be coaxially inserted inside the external cannula so that the two cannulas are mobile with respect to each other by axial and/or an angular displacement, and further has a plurality of openings that are distributed axially and circumferentially along the lateral wall in different longitudinal and/or angular positions. The holes in the external and internal cannula are distributed to enable a selective sampling in different angular and/or axial positions along the axial extension of the external cannula.
Removable biocompatible substrate filter for a reaming and collection device
The present invention provides for a removable second stage biocompatible substrate filter that includes biocompatible implant material configured to trap second stage operative particulate matter that may include at least one of bone fragments, plasma, stem cells, cellular matter, and growth factors captured from irrigation fluid. The second stage biocompatible substrate filter may be configured to combine with bone fragments captured from irrigation fluid by a first stage filter and may be configured to be operable with a reaming and collection device.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REMOVING INTRA-OSSEOUS DEVICE
Apparatuses, systems, and methods are provided for securing an intra-osseous device within a safety device to prevent stick injuries and to guide the removal of the intra-osseous device from the bone of a patient. A body of the safety device has a cavity that receives the intra-osseous device, and the cavity guides the removal of the intra-osseous device along a straight line to prevent injury during removal. The intra-osseous device is drawn past a lock feature that secures the intra-osseous device within the body such that a needle of the intra-osseous device is contained within a cavity of the body and cannot injure the patient, staff members, etc.
Intramarrow injection/infusion and aspiration needle and method
A method and apparatus for injecting supportive and therapeutic agents into bone marrow. During conventional chemotherapy for leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and other bone related diseases, chemotherapeutic agents are typically injected intravenously. Intravenous injection, however, as a method of chemotherapy, has a number of potential disadvantages. By injecting therapeutic agents directly into the bone marrow using the present method and apparatus, these disadvantages can be avoided. A stronger needle with a shorter and sharper tip, when compared to a conventional intravenous or sternal puncture needle, designed to optimally administer therapeutic agents into bone marrow without causing injury is disclosed. The method includes injecting therapeutic agents into large reservoirs of bone marrow in accessible areas such as ilium and sternum is most likely to have a significant effect in treating bone marrow diseases. The needle may have side holes for wider and more even distribution of therapeutic agents throughout the marrow.
VERTEBRAL ACCESS SYSTEM AND METHODS
Medical devices, medical procedure trays, kits and related methods are provided for use to perform medical procedures that require access to the interior of a bone. The devices, trays and methods allow multiple use of non-sterile medical devices with sterile medical devices for performing medical procedures requiring sterile conditions.
Assembly for coupling powered driver with intraosseous device
Apparatus and methods are provided to remove biopsy specimens from a bone and/or associated bone marrow using a powered drive and an intraosseous (IO) needle set. The powered driver may rotate the IO needle set at an optimum speed to obtain a biopsy sample of bone and/or bone marrow. Apparatus and methods may also be provided for aspiration of bone marrow and/or stem cell transplant procedures. The apparatus may include a powered driver, a coupler assembly, a containment bag or sterile sleeve and various IO needles and IO needle sets with associated hubs and/or hub assemblies. Each IO needle set may include a cannula or catheter and an associated trocar stylet with respective tips operable to penetrate a bone and/or bone marrow with minimum trauma to a patient. Each hub assembly may be used to releasably dispose a respective stylet within an associated generally hollow cannula. Some coupler assemblies and/or hub assemblies may also be used with manual drivers.
