A coiled shaft for tissue disruption is described herein where a flexible aspiration cannula has a first portion and a second portion formed of the coiled shaft. The cannula is configured in a particular embodiment to rotate over the length of the cannula to disrupt the matrix of bone marrow without the cannula buckling or collapsing. The cannula also includes a disruption tip coupled to the coiled shaft. The disruption tip has a radiused portion along a distal tip face of the disruption tip.

Microenvironments risk in MSC production and concentration within a cavity, for example the patient's ilium, are penetrated with a pointed instrument used to create an aperture in the hard cortical bone forming the cavity followed by the insertion of an aspiration device which extracts one or more samples of cancellous bone, bone marrow, bone marrow blood and other aspirated material. The aspirate is rinsed and may be filtered to remove unwanted material and to increase the concentration and purity of the mesenchymal stem cells in the aspirant far beyond levels formerly obtainable for use in autologous treatment of the patient.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR BIOPSY AND ASPIRATION OF BONE MARROW

Medical procedure trays and related methods are provided to accommodate joining a first non-sterile medical device with a second sterile medical device and maintaining required sterilization of the second sterile medical device to perform an associated medical procedure. One example of such medical procedures includes biopsy of a bone and/or associated bone marrow using a non-sterile powered driver and a sterile biopsy needle or biopsy needle set. Each medical procedure tray may include a containment bag or sterile sleeve. A coupler assembly, one or more sharps protectors, a biopsy sample ejector and/or associated ejector funnel may also be included. Some medical procedure trays may allow engaging a non-sterile powered driver with one end of a coupler assembly and sealing the non-sterile powered driver in a sterile sleeve or containment bag without compromising sterility of other components in the medical procedure tray.

The present invention provide a puncture instrument capable of administering (supplying) a drug solution. The puncture instrument includes a puncture tip section (2); a first tubular body (3) connected to the puncture tip section (2) at the distal end; and an outer tubular body (5) at least partially covering the first tubular body (3). The first tubular body (3) is formed to be rotatable around an axis along the longitudinal direction. The first tubular body (3) has an outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter of the outer tubular body (5). A recess is provided in the head portion, and an internal channel is provided through the head portion and the tubular insertion portion. The cap accommodates the head portion of the bone penetrating member therein. The cap includes a lower wall which covers at least a part of a distal side of the head portion, and a projection which projects into the recess of the head portion.
