Method and device for transparent connection of different DWDM systems by NxN AWGs
A system for connecting two or more dense wavelength division multiplex (DWDM) systems in an optically transparent manner includes a first DWDM system with a first optical line amplifier (OLA) for amplifying the signal to be transmitted and a second DWDM system which has a second OLA for amplifying the signal to be transmitted. The first OLA and the second OLA are connected to each other via a passive N×N AWG, arrayed waveguide grating.
OPTICAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AND OPTICAL TRANSMISSION METHOD
[Problem] whether optical input interruption detected by an OXC device is due to an external failure from an upstream side or an internal failure of the OXC device in a transponder device connected to the OXC device using an optical transmission line, and this determination is implemented at low cost.
[Solution] An optical transmission system (10A) is configured by connecting a plurality of OXC devices (14A) using optical fibers (16) between transponder devices (15A1) that relay optical signals transmitted to/from terminals (19a, 19b). The OXC device (14A) includes an OSC part (4d1) and a monitoring control part (4e1). The OSC part (4d1) outputs wavelength information on an optical signal in which optical input interruption has occurred and path information on a path of an optical fiber (16) in which the optical input interruption has occurred, at the time of detecting the optical input interruption from the optical fiber (16). In accordance with the wavelength information and the path information that have been output as above, the OXC device (14A) includes an AIS generation part (4j) that generates an AIS signal including both pieces of information on the wavelength and the path of the optical signal relating to the optical input interruption and alarm information relating to both the pieces of information.
Method and system to synchronize remote defect signaling and wavelength selective switch controls
A system and method is disclosed in which circuitry of a first controller of a first node on a first path within a transport network receives a first signal indicating a failure within the first path from a second controller. The first node is an end node of the first path. A first client signal failure clear signal is received from a second node upstream of the first node on the first path. The first client signal failure clear signal indicates that a non-restorable fault has been resolved such that the first path can be considered for carrying data traffic. The non-restorable fault is a failure at the source. Subsequent to receiving the first signal indicating the failure within the first path, a backward defect indication clear signal is transmitted to the second node, the backward defect indication clear signal indicating an absence of a failure in the first path.
Scalable OSPF configuration for managing optical networks
Systems and methods include receiving Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) packets from a plurality of OSPF areas; sending self-generated OSPF packets to the plurality of OSPF areas; and filtering of the received OSPF packets such that received Link State Advertisement (LSA) packets from an OSPF area (are not forwarded to other OSPF areas. In an embodiment, the systems and methods can be used for a scalable OSPF deployment for management of a network, such as an optical network.
Apparatus, systems, and methods for optical channel management
An apparatus includes a reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) having an input port to receive a first optical signal from a second device. The ROADM also includes a first wavelength selective switch (WSS), in optical communication with the input port, to convert the first optical signal into a second optical signal, a loopback, in optical communication with the first WSS, to transmit the second optical signal, and a second WSS, in optical communication with the loopback, to convert the second optical signal to a third optical signal and direct the third optical signal back to the second device via the input port.
System and method for performing in-service optical network certification
A system and method for performing an in-service optical time domain reflectometry test, an in-service insertion loss test, and an in-service optical frequency domain reflectometry test using a same wavelength as the network communications for point-to-point or point-to-multipoint optical fiber networks while maintaining continuity of network communications are disclosed.
OUT-OF-BAND COMMUNICATION CHANNEL FOR POINT-TO-MULTI-POINT COMMUNICATIONS
Techniques are described for implementing an out-of-band communication channel used to exchange control channel information in sub-carrier-based optical communication systems. In an example implementation, a transmitter includes a laser operable to supply an optical signal, a digital signal processor operable to supply first electrical signals based on first data input to the digital signal processor and second data input to the digital signal processor, digital-to-analog conversion circuitry operable to output second electrical signals based on the first electrical signals, modulator driver circuitry is operable to output third electrical signals based on the second electrical signals, and an optical modulator operable to supply first and second modulated optical signals based on the third electrical signals. The first modulated optical signal includes a plurality of optical subcarriers carrying user data. The plurality of optical subcarriers also being amplitude modulated to carry control information.
OPTICAL SIGNAL MONITORING DEVICE, AND OPTICAL SIGNAL MONITORING METHOD
Since safe utilization of an optical transmission system is impaired if a system is adopted in which a wavelength band is divided into sub-bands and a different user is allocated to each sub-band, the optical signal monitoring device of the present invention includes: an optical signal information generating means for monitoring wavelength multiplexed signal light comprising sub-band optical signals belonging to each of a plurality of sub-bands classified by means of identification information, and generating wavelength multiplexed signal information including optical power information of each wavelength in the wavelength multiplexed signal light; a sub-band signal information generating means for generating sub-band signal information associated with the identification information, for each of the plurality of sub-bands, on the basis of the wavelength multiplexed signal information; and a sub-band signal information control means for controlling the utilization of the sub-band signal information, on the basis of the identification information.
