Method for identifying data usage and electronic device implementing the same
An electronic apparatus is disclosed, including a touch screen display; a communication unit configured to transceive data via a network; a processor; and a memory configured to store instructions to, which when executed, instruct the processor to identify a total data usage transceived through the communication unit if the data usage transceived through the communication unit reaches a predetermined reference value, determine whether a difference value between the total data usage and a predetermined warning value satisfies a condition to change the reference value, and change the reference value based on the determination result.
Token-based billing model for server-side rendering service
A token-based billing model for delivering server-side rendered applications to remote users. A token represents a right to access a server-side rendered application. Each remote user is associated with one or more tokens. When a given token expires, the set of tokens associated with a user is decremented. The rate at which tokens expire are modulated based on aggregate load across the resources of the server-side rendered application provider, as well as the individual loads attributable to each of the users.

Method and apparatus for adaptive charging and performance in a software defined network
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method including instantiating a virtual network function to provide a network resource in the network, accessing data usage information associated with facilitation of a service to a communication device via the network, determining whether the communication device exceeds a data limit threshold according the data usage information, accessing a data limit instruction associated with the communication device responsive to determining that the communication device exceeds the data limit threshold, determining a modification to the virtual network function associated with the facilitation of the service according to the data limit instruction, and communicating with the network to cause the modification to the virtual network function. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Secure tokens for controlling access to a resource in a resource distribution network
A system for generating and applying a secure token in a resource distribution network is provided. For example, a headend system generates a time-based token based on a time duration specified for a meter. The time-based token indicates the time duration for the meter. The time-based token is further generated based on an identifier of the meter. The headend system transmits the time-based token to the meter via at least a mesh network. After receiving the time-based token, the meter validates the time-based token to determine that the time-based token is generated for the meter based on information related to the identifier of the meter. If the meter determines that the time-based token is valid, the meter connects premises associated with the meter to a resource distribution network for at least the time duration specified in the time-based token.

COST ESTIMATION ON A CLOUD-COMPUTING PLATFORM
A cloud-management system intercepts API calls from a client application. Based on the expected amount of cloud resources required to service the API call, and given the terms of the client's billing plan, the system estimates the cost to service the call. The system embeds this cost into its response to the API call and the client application, or an IDE hosting the application, keeps a running total of API-related costs incurred by the application. The system can also run in an emulation mode, estimating the application's API resource-consumption costs without actually consuming cloud resources. In this mode, the system replaces each GET and PUT call in the intercepted API call with an equivalent HEAD call that does not consume resources. The system still, however, predicts the actual cost of the original API call by returning the cost of each original GET and PUT.
Data binge detection
A method for detecting an accidental data binge includes obtaining a data usage category of a user equipment (UE) device based on historical data usage for the UE device over a cellular network, the data usage category associated with a binge data threshold. The method also includes receiving an amount data consumed by the UE device over the cellular network and determining whether the amount of the data consumed by the UE device within a threshold period of time satisfies the binge data threshold. The method also includes determining that the amount of the data consumed by the UE device within the threshold period of time may be accidental and instructing the UE device to output a notification indicating that the amount of the data consumed by the UE device over the cellular network may be accidental.
Wireless Access Point Having Metering Capability and Metering Display
The disclosure provides a system and method for metering on a prepaid wireless access point the amount of data transferred between a wireless device and the Internet and inhibiting further data transmission when the amount of prepaid data available reaches or drops below a pre-determined threshold. Specifically, the wireless access point includes a metering client to track one of data usage or an amount of prepaid data available. When the metering client indicates that the amount of data available has dropped below a pre-determined threshold, the wireless access point inhibits further data transmission.
