Remote control of equipment
A method for controlling selection of a communication method between an equipment control device belonging to a wide-area communication network and equipment belonging to a local communication network. The method includes the following steps relating to the control device: requesting the equipment to initiate a connection to the control device, the request being sent at the time of a routine connection of the equipment to the control device; determining whether the equipment can be reached by the control device using a direct method; and configuring the equipment if the equipment cannot be reached using a direct method.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING ALTERNATE NETWORK ACCESS
Methods and systems for configuring communication at a premises are described. A network device at a premises may be configured to use a first communication mode and a second communication mode. The network device may receive data from a device located at the premises. The network device may transmit the data using the first communication mode or the second communication mode based on configuration data, which may be received from a computing device located external to the premises.
COMMUNICATION METHOD AND RELATED DEVICE
This application discloses a communication method and a related device. The communication method includes: A first in-domain device determines an address length, where the “in-domain” refers to being in a local area network. Then, the first in-domain device receives a data packet, and extracts an address from the data packet based on the address length. Further, the first in-domain device forwards the data packet based on the address.
BROADBAND WATCHDOG
A method includes determining that data out of a peripheral device has been interrupted. In response, control signals are transmitted that cause power to not be supplied to the peripheral device and then cause power to be supplied to the peripheral device. If the peripheral device is determined to not be outputting data, whether data into the peripheral device has been restored is determined. If it is not, control signals are transmitted that cause power to not be supplied to a router and then cause power to be supplied to the router. If the router is determined to be outputting data, control signals are transmitted that cause power to not be supplied to a wireless access point that is coupled to the modem and then cause power to be supplied to the wireless access point. Whether the wireless access point is outputting data is determined.
Network segment allocation system and method
When a subscriber terminal (100A) connects to the other party vCPE (310B), a communication system (1) determines whether a connection between the other party terminal (100B) and the other party vCPE (310B) and a connection between the subscriber terminal (100A) and the other party vCPE (310B) are to be established through the same network segment based on connection permission conditions of the other party vCPE (310B) and the subscriber terminal (100A), and the other party vCPE (310B) allocates a network segment, which is the same as or different from a network segment allocated to the other party terminal (100B), to the subscriber terminal (100A) according to the determination.
Communication system and bandwidth control method
In a communication system including first virtual CPE and second virtual CPE, the first virtual CPE includes a band acquisition unit configured to acquire a first contract band set for a subscriber under control of the first CPE and acquire a value of decrease in the first contract band when at least one subscriber terminal of the subscriber transitions from being under control of the first CPE to being under control of the second CPE, and a band control unit configured to control a communication band for the first CPE, and the second virtual CPE includes a band acquisition unit configured to acquire a second contract band set for a subscriber under control of the second CPE and acquire a value of increase in the second contract band, and a band control unit configured to control a communication band for the second CPE.
GATEWAY APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR WIRELESS IOT (INTERNET OF THINGS) SERVICES
Gateway apparatus and methods for providing data services (including IoT data services) which leverage existing managed network (e.g., cable network) infrastructure. The disclosed methods and apparatus enable, among other things, delivery of IoT data services in a unified manner via a common portal or IoT gateway (IoTG) which may be both remotely accessed by a user, and remotely controlled/configured by the host network operator (e.g., MSO). In one variant, the premises devices include RF-enabled receivers (enhanced consumer premises equipment, or CPEe) configured to receive (and transmit) OFDM waveforms via a coaxial cable drop to the premises, and interface with the aforementioned IoTG to enable provision of both 5G high-speed data services and lower bandwidth IoT services to the premises, all via a single coaxial cable drop in the exemplary embodiment.
BROADCAST RECEIVING DEVICE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF
A broadcast receiving device for receiving a transmitted service by using an MPEG Media Transport (MMT) protocol includes a tuner configured to receive Service Layer Signaling (SLS); a memory storing one or more instructions; and a processor configured to execute the one or more instructions stored in the memory to obtain information of one or more contents constituting the service, from an MMT Package (MP) table included in the SLS, determine whether there is second content that is the same as first content being currently received through a first transfer path and is received through a different transfer path from a transfer path of the first content, among the one or more contents, based on the information of the one or more contents, and perform, when there is the second content, a handoff of a content receiving channel from the first transfer path to a second transfer path corresponding to the second content to receive the second content.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR A SUBSCRIBER-POWERED NETWORK ELEMENT
A system for powering a network element of a fiber optic wide area network is disclosed. When communication data is transferred between a central office (CO) and a subscriber terminal using a network element to convert optical to electrical (O-E) and electrical to optical (E-O) signals between a fiber from the central office and twisted wire pair, coaxial cable or Ethernet cable transmission lines from the subscriber terminal, techniques related to local powering of a network element or drop site by the subscriber terminal or subscriber premise remote powering device are provided. Certain advantages and/or benefits are achieved using the present invention, such as freedom from any requirement for additional meter installations or meter connection charges and does not require a separate power network.
Communication apparatus, communication method and program
A communication apparatus connected to a virtual apparatus having an address dispensing function via an access network is provided, wherein the communication apparatus includes a communication confirmation unit configured to perform a communication confirmation between the virtual apparatus and the communication apparatus; and an address dispensing unit configured to dispense an address to a user terminal under control of the communication apparatus when communication between the virtual apparatus and the communication apparatus is not able to be confirmed by the communication confirmation unit, and the address dispensing unit causes the user terminal to forcibly release the address when the communication between the virtual apparatus and the communication apparatus is able to be confirmed by the communication confirmation unit.
