MODERATING ACTION REQUESTS AND STRUCTURED COMMUNICATIONS WITHIN AN OBSERVATION PLATFORM

In a method of managing structured communications within an observation platform, responsive to a request interaction, a computer system sets up an action request regarding a structured communication in the observation platform. The computer system analyzes the action request with respect to a programmable policy of the observation platform and applications installed on the observation platform. The computer system analyzes the action request with respect to context in the observation platform, where the context is one of user context in the observation platform and device context in the observation platform. The computer system analyzes the action request with respect to status in the observation platform, where the status is one of user status in the observation platform and device status in the observation platform. The computer system moderates an action in the observation platform with respect to the structured communication based on results of the policy, context, and status analyses.

System and Method for Providing a Quiet Zone

A system and method for quieting unwanted sound. As a non-limiting example, various aspects of this disclosure provide a system and method, for example implemented in a premises-based or home audio system, for quieting unwanted sound at a particular location.

Commissioning load control systems

A load control system may include control devices for controlling power provided to an electrical load. The control devices may include a control-source device and a control-target device. The control-target device may control the power provided to the electrical load based on digital messages received from the control-source device. The control devices may include a load control discovery device capable of sending discovery messages configured to discover control devices within a location. The discovered control devices may be organized by signal strength and may be provided to a network device to enable association of the discovered control devices within a location. The discovery messages may be transmitted within an established discovery range. The discovery range may be adjusted to discover different control devices. Different control devices may be identified as the load control discovery device for discovering different control devices.

Timing synchronization over cable networks

In one embodiment, a method receives a first time from a network device. The first time is derived from a first timing source in a first domain. The method receives a second time in a second domain from a second timing source. A difference time value is calculated between the first time and the second time. The method then sends the difference time value to the network device where the network device uses the difference time value to send a delay value to other computing devices to synchronize timing of the other computing devices in the second domain. The other computing devices are configured to synchronize the respective time using the delay value with mobile network devices to allow timing synchronization between the mobile network devices.

Automation network, network distributor and method for transmitting data

An automation network with network subscribers is provided, in which the network subscribers are interconnected via a data line network. At least one network subscriber is configured as a master subscriber, which is adapted to send telegrams via the data line network. At least one network subscriber is configured as a network distributor, which is adapted to route telegrams. The network distributor has a plurality of input/output ports, and is connected to the master subscriber via a first input/output and data line network. The master subscriber is configured to use a telegram element to indicate that the telegram is enabled for processing by the network subscribers. In addition, the network distributor is configured to process a telegram received via the first input/output port when the telegram element indicates enablement of processing of the telegram by the network subscribers.

Mac-sync based mechanism for bridge port failover

In an embodiment, a computer-implemented method for a MAC addresses synchronization mechanism for a bridge port failover is disclosed. In an embodiment, the method comprises: upon detecting a failover of a previously active bridge node, a standby bridge node performing: detecting a failover of a previously active bridge node; sending a request to one or more hosts to cause the one or more hosts to remove, from one or more corresponding forwarding tables, one or more MAC addresses, of one or more virtual machines, that the one or more hosts learned based on communications tunnels established with the previously active bridge node; for each MAC address stored in a MAC-SYNC table maintained by the standby bridge node: generating a first-type reverse address resolution protocol (“RARP”) packet having a source MAC address retrieved from the MAC-SYNC table; broadcasting the first RARP message to a virtual extensible LAN (“VXLAN”) switch via a bridge port of the VXLAN switch for the VXLAN switch to register the MAC address on the bridge port; storing an association of the MAC address and an identifier of the bridge port in a forwarding table maintained by the standby bridge node; for each MAC address that is stored in the forwarding table, but not in the MAC-SYNC table: generating a second-type RARP packet with such a MAC address to be the source MAC address; broadcasting the second RARP message from the VXLAN switch to a VLAN switch causing a physical switch to update a forwarding table maintained by the physical switch; and starting to forward traffic, via the bridge port, as an active bridge node.

Vehicle multi-communication message type communication system

A vehicle communication system including a communication management unit (CMU) and a data gateway is provided. The CMU is at least in part configured to route first type messages using a first type message communication. The data gateway is configured to communicate second type messages to a remote location. The CMU is configured to route at least some of the first type messages to the data gateway. The data gateway is configured to communicate a pseudo acknowledgment for each message block of each first type message routed to the data gateway back to the CMU indicating the message block was received by a designated remote location. The data gateway is further configured to interface each received first type message into the second type message and communicate each second type message to the designated remote location using a second type of message communication.

Hydronic floor heating systems with features

A hydronic floor heating system as it relates to an HVAC apparatus, approach and system. Aspects of the present system and approach may include a radiant floor optimization mode, low floor temperature in vacation mode, modifying a 300 Hz, or so, reading principle base on implementation of Pseudo-random jittering of a reading event improving short-term accuracy of the individual readings, and a combination of hardware and software filters for using thermal sensors with extended cable length.

Communication device, communication system and message arbitration method

A communication device that can prevent the transmission of a message from being continuously hindered over a long period of time, a communication system and a message arbitration method are provided. The communication device transmits and receives a message to and from another device connected to a common communication line which comprises a calculation unit that calculates as to a message to be transmitted a margin time before a time when a transmission of the message is completed; a transmission unit that transmits the message to which information related to the margin time calculated by the calculation unit is attached; and an arbitration unit that performs arbitration based on the information attached to the message when simultaneous message transmissions to the communication line occur, and as to multiple of messages simultaneously transmitted to the communication line, the arbitration unit performs arbitration in such a manner as to prioritize a message with a shorter margin time.
