Method and apparatus for delivering drugs to the spine of a patient, and/or for delivering other materials and/or devices to the spine of a patient
A drug delivery system comprising: a plurality of needles; a needle guide for guiding and holding the plurality of needles during insertion into a patient's spine; a syringe containing a drug which is to be delivered into the patient's spine; a port multiplier comprising an inlet port connectable to the syringe and a plurality of outlet ports; and a plurality of tubes for providing fluid connections between the outlet ports of the port multiplier and the plurality of needles.
SST retractor with radiolucent feature
A radiolucent tissue retraction device (100), comprises a handle (106) extending along a handle axis (L.sub.h) and a first paddle (102) coupled to a first end (103) of the handle (106), the first paddle (102) including a first portion (110) extending parallel to and offset from the handle (106) and a second portion (116) connecting the first portion (110) to the handle (106), the first portion (110) having at least one radiolucent feature extending into a surface thereof, wherein the first portion (110) is curved along a longitudinal axis (L.sub.1) thereof.
INTRAOPERATIVE FLUOROSCOPIC REGISTRATION OF VERTEBRAL BODIES
A method for the fluoroscopic registration in real time for placement of pedicle screws or the like during spinal surgery, comprising creating a lateral image in which a pedicle has appropriate anatomic contour and superior endplate, advancing a pin into the pedicle starting in the posterior cortex and moved far enough into the pedicle to anchor the pin, rotating the fluoroscopy to obtain an AP image of the pedicle which is moved to render the pin to be neutral in a cephalad to caudad direction, and positioning a pedicle screw in the pedicle following 2D contour mapping generated by manual or automated templating.
Hybrid Bone Plate
A bone fixation plate comprises a main body formed of a first material and a support member formed of a second, different material and attached to the main body. The main body defines a first set of openings and the support member defines a second set of openings aligned with the first set of openings. For each opening of the first set of openings, a main body circumferential surface is disposed adjacent and continuous with a support member circumferential surface of the second set of openings to define an opening circumferential surface that bounds an opening of the first set of openings and an opening of the second set of openings.
AI-based rendered volume auto-correction for fixed and mobile x-ray imaging modalities and other imaging modalities
A method for correcting inaccuracies in a three-dimensional (3D) rendered volume of an object due to deviations between an actual scanner translation speed and an expected scanner translation speed, the method comprising: placing a pre-measured reference adjacent to the object which is being scanned so that the pre-measured reference and the object are in the same scan field; scanning the object and the pre-measured reference so that the object and the pre-measured reference are both incorporated in a 3D rendered volume produced through scanning; comparing the 3D rendered volume of the pre-measured reference against the 3D volume of the true pre-measured reference and generating a correction map indicative of how the rendered 3D volume of the pre-measured reference should be adjusted so as to produce a more accurate 3D rendering of the pre-measured reference; and using the correction map to adjust the rendered 3D volume of the object.
Ankle replacement system and method
Surgical methods are presented for sizing and adjusting a spacer and trial relative to a joint so as to properly position a cutting guide for resection of a bone. The trial may be inserted into a resected space in a first bone, and the spacer may be inserted into one or more channels defined by the trial. The laxity of one or more ligaments may be assessed relative to at least one of the trial and the spacer.
Hip or shoulder prosthesis and placement instruments
A hip/shoulder prosthesis includes: a head component; a metaphyseal component; a diaphyseal nail, and a locking device. The head component includes: a front face and rear face; with a bore, and first and second shaped recesses in the rear face. The metaphyseal component includes: a central transverse aperture at an angle to the metaphyseal component's axis; a first end configured for threaded engagement within the bore of the head component; and a longitudinal hole that begins at the second end, transects the transverse aperture and reaches the first end, to receive the locking device. The diaphyseal nail is inserted in the femoral or humeral canal, and includes: fastening apertures that receive corresponding screws for fastening the diaphyseal nail to the femur or humerus; a portion configured to he received within, and engage, the transverse aperture of the metaphyseal component, and a transverse hole configured to receive the locking device.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC RECALIBRATION FOR 3D INTRAOPERATIVE IMAGES
The invention relates to a recalibration device (1) used during the acquisition of images of an anatomical area of a patient during robot-assisted surgery, including a body (3) made of radxoliacent material, which comprises fiducial markers (9) made of radiopaque material, said body (3) having a bearing surface (7) intended to be manually placed on a surface of said anatomical area of the patient. According to the invention, said fiducial markers (9) are arranged in a specific geometrical pattern enabling a certain detection of the positioning and orientation of the recalibration device (1) in a three-dimensional digital model built from the images derived from the acquisition of the anatomical area.
BAND CLAMP IMPLANTS
Implants, systems, and methods for securing a flexible band, thereby providing a desired correction to the spine. The implant may secure the flexible band to a spinal rod and/or a pedicle screw. The implant may include a first locking member configured to secure the spinal rod and a second locking member configured to secure the band. The band may be looped around bony anatomy and tensioned to achieve correction and provide fixation as an alternative and/or supplement to pedicle screws during spinal deformity surgery.
