Probabilistic Constellation Shaping of Multi-Dimensional Symbols for Improved Tolerance to Nonlinear Impairments
An optical transmitter device (14) includes a digital signal processor ‘DSP’ (20) having digital hardware (30). The DSP is operative to generate (102,202,302) shaped bits from a first set of information bits, and to apply (104,204,304) a systematic forward error correction ‘FEC’ scheme to encode the shaped bits and a second set of information bits, where the first set of information bits and the second set of information bits are disjoint sets. Unshaped bits and the shaped bits are mapped to selected symbols or are used to select symbols from one or more constellations. The selected symbols are mapped to physical dimensions. Each unshaped bit is either one of the second set of information bits or one of multiple parity bits resulting from the FEC encoding. In this manner, a target spectral efficiency is achieved.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND COMPUTER READABLE MEDIA FOR EFFICIENT COMPENSATION OF RESIDUAL PHASE NOISE IN 5G NEW RADIO (NR) DOWNLINK (DL) SIGNALS
A method for determining and compensating for residual phase noise in a 5G NR DL signal includes converting a block of 5G NR DL time domain signal samples into a block of frequency domain samples for one OFDM data symbol and equalizing and combining the frequency domain samples that fall in an outermost sample accumulation region of each quadrant to form a first composite sample for each quadrant, selecting a signal constellation point belonging to one of the four outermost constellation point decision region as a reference constellation point, rotating at least some of the first composite samples so that the first composite samples are in the same quadrant as the reference constellation point, combining the rotated first composite samples to produce a second composite sample, calculating a phase error between the second composite sample and the reference constellation point, applying phase correction corresponding to the phase error to all subcarriers of the OFDM data symbol, and generating output data from the phase-error-corrected OFDM symbol.

The wireless communication device includes a radio receiving unit (120) that receives a packet having a format conforming to a first communication scheme and including a second format portion conforming to a second communication scheme using a higher frequency band than the first communication scheme and a first format portion excluding the second format portion, and a processing unit (160) that, outputs a response signal at completion of demodulation and decoding of the first format portion, regardless of whether demodulation and decoding of the second format portion are completed or not.
TRANSMISSION METHOD, TRANSMISSION DEVICE, RECEPTION METHOD, AND RECEPTION DEVICE
Provided is a transmission method that improves data reception quality in radio transmission using a single-carrier scheme and/or a multi-carrier scheme. The transmission method includes: generating a plurality of first modulated signals and a plurality of second modulated signals from transmission data, the plurality of first modulated signals being signals generated using a 16QAM modulation scheme, and the plurality of second modulated signals being signals generated using uniform constellation 64QAM modulation; generating, from the plurality of first modulated signals and the plurality of second modulated signals, a plurality of first signal-processed signals and a plurality of second signal-processed signals which satisfy a predetermined equation; and changing the predetermined equation when a 64QAM modulation used to generate the plurality of second modulated signals is switched from the uniform constellation 64QAM modulation to a non-uniform constellation 64QAM modulation.
Modulation spreading for wireless communications
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A UE may use different modulation schemes, or different modulators, for a single data stream. The set of modulators may be based on a linear combination of a function of encoded bits to be transmitted. In some cases, the UE may use a different permutation or interleaving of the function of bits with the same linear function to generate a different set of modulators. The UE may use a combination of any one or more of the described techniques for generating a set of modulators. Different modulators may be cyclically repeated over time. The UE may apply a device-specific scrambling sequence and transmit the modulated symbols on an uplink channel. The base station may use matched filters and an element-wise estimator (ESE) to compute log-likelihood ratios (LLRs) for each bit of each UE in a received signal.

Target constellation diagram determining method, data sending method, and apparatus
A target constellation diagram determining method, a data sending method, and an apparatus are provided in accordance with the disclosure. The target constellation diagram determining method in accordance with the disclosure may include receiving, by a receiving device, training data that is generated and sent by a sending device based on each constellation point in an alternative constellation diagram. A detection region of each constellation point can then be determined based on a position of the training data in the alternative constellation diagram. A cumulative distance corresponding to the alternative constellation diagram can be obtained based on a distance between the detection regions of the constellation points. The method may include determining, based on cumulative distances corresponding to a plurality of alternative constellation diagrams, that an alternative constellation diagram with a largest cumulative distance is a target constellation diagram, and notifying the sending device of the target constellation diagram, so that the sending device modulates to-be-sent data based on the target constellation diagram.
