A computerized system and related method for assisting a user with placing a telephonic call, comprising a user specifying an originally-specified telephone number to place an intended telephonic call, which telephone number, as originally-specified, for at least one particular reason, cannot be used to successfully complete the intended telephonic call; after specifying the originally-specified telephone number, later specifying later-specified telephone number elements, including the possible deleting, ignoring or changing of part of the originally-specified telephone number and/or related dialing elements; and causing the telephonic call to be successfully signaled using the originally-specified telephone number in combination with the later-specified telephone number elements, without the user having to re-specify the originally-specified telephone number; wherein: the originally-specified telephone number is stored in a redial memory, for purpose of the deleting, ignoring or changing and signaling, until the user initiates a brand new dialing effort to place a new telephonic call.

Method and apparatus for effecting a voice communication between user terminals connected via a communication network include displaying a menu of country options to a user and receiving a number in local form. Formatting rules are recalled for a destination country selected by the user from the country options. A country prefix for the destination country is prepended to the number in accordance with the formatting rules to generate a formatted number. The formatted number is supplied to a client installed at the user terminal for effecting the voice communication using the formatted number.

Phone number canonicalization and information discoverability

A system comprising a processor and a memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the system to receive a phone number; generate a canonical representation of the phone number; compute a correlation analysis between the canonical representation of the phone number and a contacts database; identify at least one contact in the contacts database based on the correlation analysis; select data associated with the at least one contact; and populate information associated with the at least one contact based on the selected data for display to a user.

Telephone number adjustment

A method to adjust a phone number is provided. The method may include receiving a first phone call at a telephonic device and obtaining a phone number from the first phone call. In some embodiments, the phone number may identify an origin of the first phone call. The method may further include prepending a digit to the phone number and storing the phone number with the prepended digit in a memory in the telephonic device. In some embodiments, the method may further include using the stored phone number to initiate automatic placement of the second phone call.
