Systems and methods for use with a mobile electronic device comprising a sensor operatively associated with the mobile electronic device for detecting contact with the display and a feature that helps prevent unauthorized access to the mobile electronic device responsive to the determination that the detected contact is accidental, and in some embodiments, the systems and methods of the invention include a case for mating with the body, a sensor mounted to the case, and a software application stored in the memory of the mobile electronic device, the application being in communication with the sensor for detecting contact with the cover to receive data relating to the contact and determine whether the contact is accidental contact, wherein the mobile electronic device is made inaccessible responsive to the determination that the detected contact is accidental.

Electronic device cases with tracks for holding accessories and related methods are disclosed. According to an aspect, an electronic device case includes a body that defines an interior space for holding an electronic device. The case also includes a track attached to a side of the body and comprising first and second rails. The rails each define a protrusion that extends substantially along a length of the track. The protrusion of the first rail and the protrusion of the second rail extend in substantially opposing directions. The case also includes a locking mechanism comprising a resilient member that engages the first and second rails for biasing the first and second rails in a first position for holding an accessory. The resilient member resists movement of the first and second rails to a second position for release or receipt of the accessory.

A system may include an electronic device that includes an enclosure having a transparent cover. The electronic device may also include a display positioned below the transparent cover and configured to display a first graphical user interface and a second graphical user interface different from the first graphical user interface, and a touch sensor positioned below the transparent cover and configured to detect touch inputs applied to the transparent cover. The system may also include a protective case that includes a shell defining a cavity and configured to at least partially cover the enclosure of the electronic device when the electronic device is positioned in the cavity, and a near-field wireless communication antenna coupled to the shell and detectable by the electronic device. In response to detecting the near-field wireless communication antenna, the electronic device may be configured to switch from the first graphical user interface to the second graphical user interface.

In accordance with some embodiments, a secure modular apparatus providing a first platform for secure platform integration includes communication device(s) and a key store for storing encryption keys. The apparatus additionally includes a crypto engine operable to use the encryption keys for cryptographic operations. The apparatus also includes a controller and a housing arranged to at least partially support the communication device(s), the key store, the crypto engine, and the controller. The controller, via the communication device(s), exchanges encrypted messages prepared or processed by the crypto engine with a second platform provided by a personal communication device, where the second platform is distinct from the first platform and has a plurality of layers including at least one layer between a hardware layer and high level layers, and the encrypted messages control one or more of a hardware unit in the hardware layer and a component in the high level layers.
