Suture passing device
A suture passing device includes a jaw assembly that is moved to an open configuration after exiting a hollow needle distal tip and moved to a closed configuration when retracted into the needle tip. The jaw assembly may include a pair of jaw members biased to a default diverging configuration. A suture capturing mechanism formed on the jaw members securely captures suture to both push and pull the captured when the jaw assembly is retracted into the hollow distal tip. The device may also include a second suture capturing mechanism that loosely captures suture and enables the captured suture to slide.
Suture grasping instrument
A suture passer includes a needle extending longitudinally and configured to be manipulated between a catch position and a release position and a first suture notch and a second suture notch. The first and second suture notches extend respectively through the needle with a first catch undercut and a second catch undercut. Each of the first and second suture notches are configured to receive a suture thread therein and releasably capture the suture thread radially inwardly as the needle is manipulated toward the catch direction.
Method of implanting a penile prosthesis
A method of implanting a penile prosthesis includes providing a tool including a needle having a locking groove formed in a shaft of the needle, where the locking groove has a ridge or a notch. The method includes accessing a penile implant having a length of suture coupled to a distal end of the penile implant, securing the length of suture into the locking groove of the needle; inserting the tool and the needle into a corpora cavernosum of a penis; passing the needle and the length of suture through a glans of the penis; disengaging the length of suture from the locking groove of the needle; and pulling the penile implant into the corpora cavernosum of the penis with the length of suture.
Surgical suture and method of suturing
A surgical suture and method of suturing is described. The surgical suture includes a pair of matched fastening elements connected by a length of suture. The fastening elements have interlocking components, allowing a surgeon to adjust the tightness of the suture. Fastening element holding devices are also provided to guide the use the surgical suture. The method includes placing the fastening elements in the holding devices, threading one or both of the fastening elements through the body of the patient, and securing the surgical suture, and removing the holding devices.
Surgical end effectors
According to an aspect of the present disclosure, an end effector for use with a surgical device is provided. The end effector includes a driver, a clip assembly, a needle assembly, and biasing element. The clip assembly is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the driver. Rotation of the driver results in longitudinal translation of the clip assembly. The needle assembly is selectively engaged with the clip assembly. The biasing element is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the needle assembly and is configured to bias the needle assembly proximally.
ENDOSCOPIC SUTURING NEEDLE AND SUTURE ASSEMBLY ATTACHMENT METHODS
A suture assembly may include a needle having a cylindrical body with a sharp point on at least one end, a lumen extending transverse to a longitudinal axis of the cylindrical body, and a recess in communication with an opening to the lumen. A suture extends through the lumen and is secured within the recess of the needle by a sleeve extending over the needle.
SUTURE NEEDLE DEVICES AND SUTURE ATTACHMENT METHODS
According to one aspect, a medical device including a needle configured for use in suturing tissue is described. The needle may include a cylindrical body having a longitudinal axis extending between first and second ends of the cylindrical body. The needle may also include a lumen extending through the cylindrical body transverse to the longitudinal axis. The needle may further include a first end portion at the first end of the cylindrical body. The first end portion may include a sharp point configured to pierce tissue. An outer surface of the cylindrical body may define a first recess in communication with an opening of the lumen and configured to receive an end of a suture.
SURGICAL SUTURING DEVICE FOR REPAIR OF TRICUSPID REGURGITATION AND METHODS THEREOF
A surgical suturing device is disclosed. The surgical suturing device may include a first or a second tissue gap, a first pair of needles configured to be movable across the first tissue gap, a second pair of needles configured to be movable across the second tissue gap, and a first suture having first and second ends. The surgical suturing device also includes a second suture having first and second ends and a needle actuator which selectively engages either: the first pair of needles to drive them through the first tissue gap and into communication with the first end of the first suture and the first end of the second suture, respectively; or the second pair of needles to drive them through the second tissue gap and into communication with the second end of the first suture and the second end of the second suture.
LAPAROSCOPIC SUTURING DEVICES, NEEDLES, SUTURES, AND DRIVE SYSTEMS
Devices are provided for a suturing device used during laparoscopic surgical procedures. A suturing needle includes a shaft forming a rod axis; a curved body having a piercing tip at a first end and a base at a second end; and an arm extending from the shaft to the base of the curved body such that the curved body is rotatable about the shaft. The suturing device includes a housing, a suturing needle, one or more sutures, a suture magazine configured to hold the one or more sutures, and a drive system, whereby the drive system may actuate the suturing needle to rotate, allowing the suturing needle to drive into and out of tissue to apply a suture.
