Methods and system are described for special processing of fax transmissions. In one embodiment, an electronic device receives a first searchable electronic document and a fax telephone number. The device determines that the document is to be transmitted as an electronic message based on the number. The device generates a second searchable electronic document from the first document. The device adds an electronic signature to the second document that includes at least one of a timestamp of when the first document was received, a number of pages of the second document, and source device information. The device transmits the electronic message that includes the second document to a destination address according to the number. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

An image processing apparatus communicates with a chat server configured to control sharing of received image data in a transmission destination group based on received information about the group. The image processing apparatus includes a registration unit configured to register a group of the chat server in association with an object, the group serving as a transmission destination of image data, an obtaining unit configured to obtain identification information corresponding to the group from the chat server, a display unit configured to display the registered object, and a transmission unit configured to transmit, if the displayed object is selected, the image data and the information about the group serving as the transmission destination to the chat server. The display unit displays the identification information with the object.

In the present image reading system, an information processing apparatus notifies any image reading apparatus on a network of connection information, and permits transmission of image data only in a case where the image reading apparatus notified of the connection information accesses the information processing apparatus. The image reading apparatus transmits image data that is read from an original, to a transmission destination conforming to the connection information is notified by the information processing apparatus.

According to some embodiments, a system includes an apparatus, a server, and a terminal. The terminal obtains an identifier of an application executed on the terminal, and transmits the obtained identifier of the application to the server. The server includes a storage storing an identifier of an application and information indicating a predetermined process in association with each other, wherein the predetermined process is a process using a function included in the apparatus. An information providing device is capable of communicating with an image forming device, a data managing device, and a transmission terminal. The information providing device includes a storage unit; a communication unit that transmits a forming instruction to instruct the image forming device to perform image forming, and receives, from the image forming device, storage location information indicating the data managing device that stores data obtained by image forming by the image forming device and indicating a storage location in the data managing device; and a storage location managing unit that generates, in the storage unit, management information in which identification information of the image data is associated with the storage location information. The communication unit receives the data saved in the storage location indicated by the storage location information from the data managing device and transmits the received data to the transmission terminal.

A method for providing watermark to subscribers is provided. The method comprises observing a request for a first content from a subscriber, determining if the subscriber can receive a watermark, generating a second content comprising the watermark if the subscriber can receive a watermark, causing the subscriber to fetch the first content, and causing the subscriber to fetch the second content comprising the watermark overlaying the first content.
