Techniques for characterizing an optical system (for example, a printer verifier) are provided. In this regard, the optical system may be characterized for scanning a printed image. The characterization of the optical system includes determining an effective aperture size of the optical system, and correspondingly an effective resolution at which the optical system can be configured to scan a portion of the printed image according to verification requirements.

An image processing apparatus includes a display, an input device, and a processor configured to accept, through the input device, a user input of identification information that specifies a predetermined service and is associated with a plurality of document types used in the predetermined service, acquire document type information about each of the document types, generate a screen displayed on the display, the screen showing a preview of a print image for each of the document types, upon selection of a previewed print image, encode the identification information and generate a code for the predetermined service, and output the selected print image together with the generated code for printing.

An information processing apparatus is configured to identify usage of an extract-printing image, and receive the image data output by an application. In case where the received image data represents an image having a first size, when the usage is a first usage, object image data representing a first object is extracted, while the usage is a second usage, object image data representing a second object is extracted. Then, the information processing apparatus generates image data such that when the object image data representing the first object is extracted, image data representing an image composed such that the first object is arranged on a sheet having a second size is generated. When the object image data representing the second object is extracted, image data representing an image composed such that the second object is arranged on the sheet having the second size is generated.

An image forming apparatus prints a template sheet. The template sheet includes a graphical code and operation boxes. The graphical code includes information corresponding to a storage location address that stores information about settings for one or more image forming apparatuses. A user indicates what information is desired or to be changed on the image forming apparatus, marks it on the template sheet and scans the template sheet. Based on the instructions on the template sheet, information for settings is retrieved for an apparatus in a network. Maintenance information for the image forming apparatus also is retrieved using the template sheet and operation boxes.

An image forming apparatus includes a printer, an input device configured to receive a user input, and a processor configured to acquire identification information that specifies a task in a predetermined service and is input through the input device, acquire document type information about document types used in the predetermined service based on the acquired identification information, generate a code for the task by encoding the acquired identification information, and control the printer to print an image of one of the document types and the generated code on a sheet of paper.

A delivery system including an information processing apparatus operated by a user, a printing apparatus and a server that instructs delivery of a consumable of the printing apparatus. The information processing apparatus requests screen information for making a contract related to the delivery of the consumable to the server, displays a screen based on the screen information received from the server, and transmit registration information input on the screen to the server. The server creates the screen information and transmits the screen information to the information processing apparatus, makes a contract of the delivery of the consumable to be used in the printing apparatus with the user, based on the registration information, and delivers the consumable to the user when a remaining amount of the consumable is less than a predetermined amount in the printing apparatus.

A printer-verifier system for providing print quality feedback and controlling print quality is provided. The printer-verifier system may include a printing mechanism configured to print a machine-readable indicia on a print media; a verifier device configured to optically scan the machine-readable indicia; and a print quality monitoring device in electronic communication with the printing mechanism and the verifier device.
