It is assumed that a user changed a set value of paper selection, which is one of setting items of various setting items, from “auto” to “A3”. According to one embodiment, a controller extracts history records in which the set value of the paper selection is “A3” from setting information history in a storage, and arranges them to the side of the various setting items in chronological order. Specifically, the controller displays three pieces of setting information, starting with the latest setting information, followed by older setting information, on the right side of the various setting items. Based on one metadata template determined from among a plurality of metadata templates, a screen including a scan image, a plurality of keys defined in the one determined metadata template, and value input fields each corresponding to a different one of the plurality of keys is displayed, and in a case where a user selects any one of the plurality of keys displayed in the screen, character string areas determined to match a data format of a value corresponding to the key are displayed in such a manner that the character string areas are recognizable as value candidates on the scan image.

The controller is configured to control the recorder to consume colorant to print images on sheets, count a consumption value and a quantity of the sheets consumed, determine an average usage value based on the consumption value and the quantity of the sheets, obtain a filled amount value and determine a first printable quantity, determine a second printable quantity, control the display to display a first screen including a first object indicating the first printable quantity in the display, control the display to display a second screen including a second object indicating the second printable quantity in the display, and control the display to display a screen including a third object, through which one of the first object and the second object to be displayed in the display is selectable.

A display control device includes a display section and a display controller. The display controller controls the display section so as to cause the display section to display a first image and a second image. The first image is displayed in an upper layer for the second image. The first image represents a category item. The second image represents a setting item belonging to the category item. The display controller controls the display section so as to cause the display section to display a predetermined image in the first image according to the setting item that has been entered.

A method for executing a saved job from a remotely located multi-function device (MFD) is disclosed. For example, the method is executed by a processor and includes authenticating a user, accessing a saved job from an application server, wherein the saved job was created from a local MFD, setting a plurality of parameters on the remotely located MFD based on metadata obtained from the saved job, and executing the saved job on the remotely located MFD.

An information processing system includes an information processing apparatus that selects between transferring data and obtaining data, and controls transferring data or obtaining data based on the selection. The system also includes a server that stores data transferred from the information processing apparatus, and controls transferring data to the information processing apparatus based on a request for transferring data received from the information processing apparatus.

An image forming device and method for supporting multiple platforms are provided. The image forming device includes a communication device, a processor, a memory, and a user interface device. The processor may request an app server for a list of apps usable by the image forming device, and receive the list from the app server. The processor may determine a first app to be controlled in the list. The processor may obtain information of the second app that provides a same or similar service as a service provided by the first app based on information of the first app, and is supported by a second platform different from a first platform supporting the first app. The processor may perform an operation to control a state of the second app on the second platform based on an operation to control a state of the first app on the first platform.

An electronic device includes a processor configured to perform: obtaining identification information of another electronic device; receiving an entered keyword that is a keyword entered by the user; searching including conducting a search to identify a standard keyword that is a keyword contained in an item name of a setting item of the other electronic device corresponding to the identification information, based on the keyword and first dictionary information related to the other electronic device, and conducting a search to identify a standard keyword of the electronic device based on the identified standard keyword of the other electronic device and a second dictionary information related to the electronic device; and presenting the user with a setting item of the electronic device containing the standard keyword of the electronic device identified at the searching.

Provided is an image forming apparatus capable of improving operability. A recognizing unit recognizes surroundings of the image forming apparatus itself from image data captured by the image capturing unit. An additional information collecting unit collects additional information that possibly is associated with the target operator recognized by the recognizing unit. A situation inferring unit infers a situation of the image forming apparatus itself from recognition information recognized by the recognizing unit. At this time, the situation inferring unit may infer a situation of a target operator from additional information collected by the additional information collecting unit, and recognition information of the target operator. A response unit changes a response and/or an operation corresponding to the situation inferred by the situation inferring unit.
