Image scanner
A controller executes area defining processing for defining a middle area and two side areas, and ending processing. In a case where the document leading edge extends parallel to a main scanning direction, the controller executes the ending processing for non-skewed document. In a case where the document leading edge does not extend parallel to the main scanning direction, the controller executes the ending processing for skewed document. In which, the controller determines, in the middle area and the side areas, first, second, and third change positions, respectively, at each of which a type of a target read image data line changes from document data to document cover data, determines, based on the first change position and the second change position, whether a document has a rectangular shape, and ends the reading operation based on the third change position and the determination result as to the document shape.
Edge sensing
Example implementations relate to an edge sensing apparatus. For example, an edge sensing apparatus consistent to the present disclosure may include a reflector in a beam path of a retroreflective sensor. The edge sensing apparatus consistent with the present disclosure may include a cover glass located between the retroreflective sensor and the reflector. The edge sensing apparatus consistent with the present disclosure may include a media feeder to feed a media along a media path between the cover glass and the retroreflective sensor.
Image reading apparatus and image data generation method
An image reading apparatus includes a first sensor, a second sensor, a third sensor, a first processor that generates a first merge image based on first image data acquired by reading by the first sensor and second image data acquired by reading by the second sensor, and a second processor that generates a second merge image based on the second image data and third image data acquired by reading by the third sensor, and generates an output image by performing a linking process on the first merge image and the second merge image.
Image reading apparatus
An image reading apparatus includes a housing, a transport unit, a first reader, a controller, and a positioning mechanism. The controller controls the transport unit to transport a second medium different in thickness from a first medium in a first transport direction and then in a second transport direction opposite to the first transport direction. The positioning mechanism moves the first reader from a first position to a second position by using a drive force by which the transport unit transports the second medium in the first transport direction. The positioning mechanism maintains the first reader at the second position while the second medium transported by the transport unit in the second transport direction is passing the first reader, and moves the first reader from the second position to the first position after the first reader reads the image on the first side of the second medium.
IMAGE READING DEVICE
An image reading device comprises a document table having a plate-shaped transparent member for a document to be placed thereon, an image reading unit for reading the document placed on the upper surface of the transparent member from the lower surface side of the transparent member, a carriage for driving the image reading unit to move reciprocally, and a case for containing the carriage. The document table has a frame member along a periphery of the transparent member and is secured to the case by engagement right under the frame member.
Optical flatbed scanner with rigid transparent plate fixing
A flatbed scanner document scanner includes a large format document scanner body accommodating a rectangular rigid frame with an upwardly facing plane face and a rectangular transparent plate for supporting a large format document. The rectangular transparent plate overlies the upwardly facing plane face all around the metal frame. The scanner also includes a movable carriage configured to move along and below the rectangular transparent plate and carrying a line camera extending across the rectangular transparent plate. The rectangular transparent plate and the metal frame are bonded together by a hard glue seam that runs on the upwardly facing plane face of the metal frame. A predetermined deflected shape can be formed when the bonded plate and frame are turned upside-down. The rectangular metal frame can deform under its own load to a cambered shape, a flat shape or a less deflected shape when turned upright in a normal position.
Image reading apparatus and image forming apparatus including a being-conveyed document reading mode and a placed-document reading mode
An image reading apparatus includes a for-still-document contact glass serving as a reading face for a placed document, a for-moving-document contact glass serving as a reading face for a document conveyed by an automatic document feeder, and an optical scanner unit to move in a scanning range of the for-still-document contact glass back and forth in a sub-scanning direction to scan the document. The optical scanner unit moves to a scanning range of the for-moving-document contact glass and scans the document in a static manner when the document is conveyed in an automatic manner, and the optical scanner unit includes a contact image sensor, a carriage that holds the contact image sensor in a movable manner in the sub-scanning direction, and a pair of end sliders arranged on both ends of a plane facing the reading face in a longer-side direction of the optical scanner unit.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS, METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME, AND STORAGE MEDIUM
An image reading apparatus, includes an image sensor, a drive mechanism configured to cause the image sensor to move in a first direction and a second direction opposite to the first direction, a reference plate, and a control unit configured to execute a first reading method of detecting a first reference position by driving the image sensor in the first direction and reading the reference plate, thereafter reading a document by driving the image sensor in the first direction, and a second reading method of detecting a second reference position by driving the image sensor in the second direction and reading the reference plate, and thereafter reading a document by driving the image sensor in the second direction.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS AND COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM
An image reading apparatus, comprising an image reading unit configured to perform image reading, a drive unit configured to move a target in the image reading, and a signal generating unit configured to generate a signal for driving the image reading unit, the image reading apparatus configured to acquire, with moving the target by the drive unit, image data by the image reading unit performing the image reading based on a signal generated by the signal generating unit, wherein the drive unit moves the target such that the target changes at a speed according to a predetermined driving speed profile, and the signal generating unit generates a signal, based on the driving speed profile, at a timing making the moving distance of the target to be an equal interval.
Image scanning apparatus and methods of operating an image scanning apparatus
Image scanning apparatus and method of operating an image scanning apparatus, the image scanning apparatus including a line scan detector and being configured to image a surface of an object mounted in the image scanning apparatus in a plurality of swathes, wherein each swathe is formed by a group of scan lines, each scan line being acquired using the scan line detector from a respective elongate region of the surface of the object extending in a scan width direction, wherein each group of scan lines is acquired whilst the object is moved relative to the scan line detector in a scan length direction.
