FELT MATERIAL FOR USE IN A METHOD OF REPAIRING OR AUGMENTING HUMAN OR ANIMAL SOFT TISSUES
Felt material (1) comprising a multitude of fibers (2) for use in a method of repairing or augmenting human or animal soft tissues (3), wherein the felt material (1) is in the form of a matting or felted patch (9) comprising a first surface (5) and oppositely arranged a second surface (6) for contacting a surface of soft tissue (3), and wherein some of the fibers (2) of the felted patch (9) are pushed or pulled through the second surface (6) into the soft tissue (3) by means of a needle (10) producing a connection between the felt material (1) and the soft tissue (3). Further, a set of instruments is provided which comprises a needle (10), a stitching device (30) and a clamping device (20) comprising a first jaw (21a) which is frame-like configured permitting the tip portion of the needle (10) to penetrate the first jaw (21a) and a second jaw (21b) with a cavity (29) configured to receive the tip portion of the needle (10).
SUTURE PASSERS
Suture pulling devices are disclosed which are adapted to lock onto a target tissue by use of a pair of jaws and pull a strand of suture through the target tissue so that without opening the closed jaws, the strand of suture has been pulled through the tissues but maintained within the volume defined by the pair of jaws.
MEDICAL SUTURE NEEDLE
Provided is a medical suture needle configured so as to reduce the risk of bending and cracks occurring in a tip part in which a point is formed. The medical suture needle includes a cutting blade section (10) and a body section (20) that is continuous with the cutting blade section. The cutting blade section comprises one bottom surface (11) and two inclined surfaces (12) and includes a point (13) at which the one bottom surface and the two inclined surfaces meet, a cutting blade (14) formed so as to be continuous from the point and such that the bottom surface and the inclined surfaces meet, and a ridge (15) formed so as to be continuous from the point and such that the two inclined surfaces meet. The thickness of the cutting blade section decreases from the body section toward the point. The two inclined surfaces include grooves (18) that have a curved surface shape, that each have a preset size, and that are formed along the ridge starting from the position of the cutting blade so as to be separated from the point by a predetermined distance. The lower edges (18c) of the grooves separate from the cutting blade toward the ridge side as the grooves approach the body section side in the end sections of said grooves on the body section side.
REPAIR DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DEPLOYING ANCHORS
A bone or tissue repair device can deploy first and second anchors from a distal end of a bore of a needle. A cylindrical first anchor can be disposed in the bore proximal to a distal end of the bore. A cylindrical second anchor can be disposed in the bore proximal to the first anchor. A pusher wire can include teeth positioned at a distal end of the pusher wire. The pusher wire and teeth can be configured to engage an interior of the first anchor; advance distally, with respect to the needle, to force the first anchor distally out of the bore; retract proximally, with respect to the needle and the second anchor, to position the teeth inside an interior of the second anchor; engage the interior of the second anchor; and advance distally, with respect to the needle, to force the second anchor distally out of the bore.
ANASTOMOSIS DEVICE
Provided is an anastomosis arrangement for joining two opposite stumps of a tubular organ in a streamlined anastomosis procedure. The arrangement includes a pair of axially symmetric stump-coupling members that accommodate pairs of counterpart suturing needles, linked together by common suturing threads, and manipulable by a needle-manipulation element to extract the needles tips from the stump-coupling members for piercing walls of the stump.
ENDOSCOPIC STITCHING DEVICE HAVING ANGLED SUTURE NEEDLE
A surgical stitching device includes a suture needle configured to reliably pass through a typically thick scarred tissue present along, e.g., an edge of midline hernias. The surgical stitching device includes first and second jaws. The suture needle is selectively supported on the first or second jaws at, e.g., an acute, angle with respect to a longitudinal axis defined by the corresponding first or second jaw. The suture needle may be selectively secured with the first or second jaw by first and second needle receiving blades configured for reciprocating axial displacement. A suture is connected to the suture needle to perform suturing of tissue.
STERNAL CLOSURE SYSTEM
A system including a bone punch tool and a needle guide. The bone punch tool can include a support arm having a support arm proximal portion and a support arm distal portion, a pivot arm having a pivot arm proximal portion and a pivot arm distal portion, and an arcuate punch configured to punch through bone. The pivot arm distal portion can be pivotably coupled to the support arm distal portion, such that the pivot arm proximal portion is configured to be moved away from the support arm proximal portion to extend the arcuate punch into a punch position to punch an arcuate hole through bone. The needle guide can be configured to guide a needle through the arcuate hole.
SOFT TISSUE IMPLANT SYSTEMS, INSTRUMENTS AND RELATED METHODS
Implant systems and related methods for joining bone and/or tissue portions is disclosed. The implant systems include a first flexible anchor tube comprising a first annular side wall defining a first internal cavity, a first longitudinal end and a second longitudinal end, and a second flexible anchor tube comprising a second annular side wall defining a second internal cavity, a first longitudinal end and a second longitudinal end. The implant systems also comprise at least one suture that passes through the first and second side walls a plurality of times.
