Machine readable security mark and process for generating same
A print device prints a document with a security marking in a microtext font. A scanning device scans the security marking, and an optical character recognition (OCR) engine attempts to recognize the characters in the security marking. The system the generates an encoding in which each character of the font is mapped to a character string made up only of characters that the OCR engine could recognize at or above a minimum recognition threshold. Then, when generating a new document with a new security marking in the microtext font, the system will use the encoding to replace each character in the security marking with its representation from the encoding so that the scanner and OCR engine can decode the security marking.

Image Processing Apparatus
An image processing apparatus includes a raw image obtaining unit, a combined image generating unit, and a stamp image composing unit. The raw image obtaining unit obtains N raw images for generating an N-up image. The combined image generating unit generates the combined image from the obtained raw images. The stamp image composing unit selects a stamp image adapted for a combined image generating condition from a plurality of stamp images having mutually different layouts of stamps to compose the selected stamp image on the combined image.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DIGITAL WATERMARK LOCALIZATION BASED UPON BACKGROUND FOREGROUND ESTIMATION
A system and method for localizing an area of interest likely containing a digital watermark is disclosed. Image frames may be segmented into multiple tiles. A pixel having the maximum grayscale or other value and a pixel having the minimum grayscale or other value in each tile may be identified. Maximum and minimum image maps may be generated from the image frame by replacing each tile with the respective maximum and minimum grayscale or other value pixels. A background map may be generated based on a moving average of the grayscale values of the pixels in the image maps. Foreground map(s) may be generated based on the difference of the values from the image maps to the background map. A region of interest may be determined based on the background and foreground maps and provided to a watermark decoder. Content contained in the digital watermark may be read.
MOBILE APPARATUS AND DISTRIBUTION-MATERIAL PROVIDING SYSTEM
A mobile apparatus includes a group setting section and a providing section. The group setting section sets one or more groups each having multiple members. When the multiple members are connected by using one or more straight lines, all of the multiple members are positioned so as to be connected by one or more straight lines each equal to or shorter than a predetermined threshold. Each of the one or more straight lines connects one member of the plurality of members and one other member of the plurality of members. The providing section moves to any one member of each of the one or more groups and provides distribution material.
Preventing restricted trades using physical documents
A system for preventing restricted transactions using physical trade documents includes a document intake machine comprising a document scanner and a data extractor. The document intake machine receives a physical trade document associated with a transaction of goods from an entity. The document scanner scans the physical trade document to create an electronic file. The data extractor identifies trade terms from the electronic file. A trade-executing machine receives the trade terms and compares them to a database of restricted trade terms. For each of the trade terms that match a restricted trade term, the trade executing machines identifies a confidence level associated with the trade term indicating a likelihood that the transaction of goods is a restricted transaction. If the confidence level is greater than a predetermined threshold, the trade executing machine flags the transaction of goods as a potential restricted transaction and communicates a notification message to the entity.
Identifying document forms using digital fingerprints
Techniques are disclosed to identify a form document in an image using a digital fingerprint of the form document. To do so, the image is evaluated to detect features of the image. For each feature, a pixel is plotted in a second image. The second image is the digital fingerprint of the form. To identify the form corresponding to the digital fingerprint, the digital fingerprint may be compared to digital fingerprints of known forms.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD AND STORAGE MEDIUM
The information processing apparatus: generates PDL data by calculating, in a case where a drawing-target object within XPS format drawing data is a text-attribute character object that is drawn by using a font, a character advance width from font data; and performing rendering for the XPS format drawing data by using the calculated character advance width.
DISPLAY DEVICE PROVIDING FEEDBACK BASED ON IMAGE CLASSIFICATION
A digital image display device comprising: a display screen; a processor; a network connection for receiving digital media assets provided by a plurality of individuals; an image memory; a user interface for receiving input from a user of the digital image display device; and a program memory. The program memory stores instructions to execute the steps of: receiving a digital media asset; displaying the received digital media asset on the display screen; determining an asset classification for the displayed digital media asset; selecting a set of classified feedback message choices responsive to the determined asset classification; displaying the selected set of feedback message choices, receiving input from the user to select a particular feedback message choice; and providing an indication of the selected feedback message to the individual who provided the displayed digital media asset.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR ENHANCING DIGITAL WATERMARK DECODING
Imagery captured by a point-of-sale scanner (e.g., in a supermarket) for purposes of barcode decoding, is contrast-enhanced preparatory to use for watermark decoding despite the fact that such operation may sometimes result in contrast between certain pixels being diminished. A great variety of other features and arrangements are also detailed.
