APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE SUTURING
An apparatus and method for minimally invasive suturing is disclosed. A suturing device for minimally invasive suturing includes proximal section having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis therebetween, a suture head assembly extending from the distal end of the proximal section; a suturing needle having a pointed end and a blunt end, the suturing needle capable of rotating about an axis approximately perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the proximal section, wherein the pointed end of the suturing needle is positioned within the suture head assembly prior to and after rotation of the suturing needle, and an actuator extending from the proximal end of the proximal section to actuate a reciprocating needle drive having a needle driver for engaging and rotating the suturing needle.
Port site closure instrument
A port site closure instrument includes a pair of wings and a body having proximal, central, and distal portions. The proximal portion defines a proximal suture aperture and first and second needle apertures. The central portion defines third and fourth needle apertures. A first needle channel is defined through the body communicating the first and third needle apertures. A second needle channel is defined through the body communicating the second and fourth needle apertures. The distal portion defines distal suture apertures. A first suture channel is defined by the body communicating the proximal and distal suture apertures. The pair of wings is pivotally supported by the distal portion of the body. Each of the wings define a suture slot such that a suture exiting one of the distal suture apertures and positioned in the suture slots is aligned with one of the first or second needle channels.

An implantable cerclage sacrocolpopexy medical device includes an elongate strip of flat, flexible material extending longitudinally from a first end to an opposite second end; a surgical needle attached to the first end of the elongate strip; and a loop at either the first end or the second end of the elongate strip. The medical device is positioned circumferentially around the cervix. The end of the elongate strip opposite the end having the loop is passed through the loop and attached to the sacrum or sacrospinous ligament.

VAGINAL CUFF CLOSURE LAPAROSCOPIC SUTURE PASSER
A laparoscopic suture passer comprises an elongated shaft, and a jaw assembly coupled to a distal end of the elongated shaft. The jaw assembly comprises first and second jaw members hingedly associated with each other. The jaw members are configured for being alternately displaced relative to each other between an open position and a closed position. The laparoscopic suture passer further comprises a hollow needle comprising a slotted bore extending along the entire length thereof. The hollow needle has a blunt end and a sharp end opposite the blunt end. The blunt end of the hollow needle is hingedly coupled to the first jaw member for being alternately hinged between a retracted position, wherein the hollow needle is stowed in the first jaw member, and a deployed position, wherein the hollow needle extends away from the first jaw member.
