An information processing apparatus includes at least one memory device that stores a set of instructions, and at least one processor that executes the set of instructions. The set of instructions includes instructions to acquire color data from an application, set a generation method for generating gray image data from color data by selecting a method from a group including at least a first generation method and a second generation method different from the first generation method, generate PDL data of gray image data based on the acquired color data and the set generation method, and transmit the generated PDL data to a printing apparatus.

Visual ink savings

When a job does not exactly match the purpose of a printing profile but would benefit from some of the characteristics of a different printing profile, dynamically making the tradeoffs between the printing profiles is desirable. For example, a high-ink, large gamut profile might not be needed for a particular job, but an ink-saving profile would be excessively grainy. An intermediate profile would be recommended. Alternatively, the ink-saving profile can be adequate for everything except the skin tones in the print. Presented here are systems and methods to create a blended representation that could adopt the high-ink rules for a portion of the image, but ink-saving rules elsewhere. For example, the high-ink rules can be applied to the skin colors, but ink-saving rules can be applied in other parts of the image.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device configured to form an image on a sheet using a rotating body under a predetermined image forming condition, a corrector configured to determine a correction amount for the image forming condition to adjust image density unevenness corresponding to a rotation cycle of the rotating body, and a controller configured to control the image forming device to form, on a single sheet, plural test images that are different in the correction amount.

Colour standard from a digital input file

The invention provides a colour standard, assembled from a graphic digital input file, in which one or a combination of CMYK, RGB, Lab or spot colour builds are contained. The colour standard comprises a colour target calibration strip which is indicative of the calibration status of a printing press; an output image which is indicative of the digital input file; and a grid chart of spot colour builds, built-in process inks, with their respective process build values available for each spot colour in the digital input file. The colour standard is configured to capture the calibrated state of the press for a particular digital input file in order to achieve a particular colour-managed output image, so that product print runs of the output image can be repeated accurately and consistently over time.

An information processing apparatus is provided to facilitate a user's understanding of which area of an image has a higher degree of change when image processing is performed on the image. The information processing apparatus displays, on a display device, information indicating a relationship in magnitude between a first amount of change by the image processing in a first area included in a predetermined image and a second amount of change by the image processing in a second area included in the predetermined image.

A system includes an image processing device connected to a transmission and reception device that communicates with an external device, and a terminal device connected to a display device. The image processing device includes an evaluation value calculation processor that calculates, for each of two or more types of output modes, an evaluation value of output image data when image data is output in the output mode, and an evaluation information transmitter that transmits evaluation information including information based on the evaluation value for each of the output modes, to the terminal device, via the transmission and reception device. The terminal device includes a display controller that performs control of displaying, for each of the output modes, the information based on the evaluation value corresponding to the output mode, on the display device, if the evaluation information is received.

Printing by printing fluid transfer

In an example of a printing system, the amount of a printing fluid that is transferred from a developer unit onto an imaging plate is varied in order to alter the optical density of an area covered by the printing fluid.

In a case where a sample color is outside a color reproduction range of an image forming apparatus, there arises an issue that an adjustment target color cannot be brought close to a user-desired color. An image forming apparatus includes a generation unit configured to cause a printing unit to print a plurality of colors close to an acquired sample color and generate a color conversion table based on a user-selected color among the plurality of printed colors in a case where it is determined that the acquired sample color is outside a color reproduction range of the image forming apparatus, whereas in a case where it is determined that the acquired sample color is not outside the color reproduction range, the generation unit generates a color conversion table without causing the printing unit to print the plurality of colors close to the sample color.
