Mapping between color spaces

Certain examples described herein relate to mapping between an input color space and an output color space. In some cases, data representing a set of candidate output color values in the output color space is obtained for a transition region between two input color values in the input color space. A sub-region of the transition region is defined, the sub-region being associated with a target colorimetry and a target value of a metric. An output color value is selected from the set of candidate output color values. The output value has an associated value of the metric and an associated colorimetry. The selecting is based on the associated colorimetry and the target colorimetry, and the value of the metric and the target value of the metric. In some cases, mapping data is generated by assigning the selected output color value to the sub-region.

Printing methods and systems

A method of controlling a system including a printhead for printing an image on at least one surface, wherein the at least one surface differs in shape from a nominal surface by a known tolerance, and wherein the printhead and the at least one surface move relative to each other along a predetermined print path comprising at least one swathe. Small dot patterns (referred to as “pathfinders”) are printed on a surface of the object in a preliminary printing pass, then the printed dot patterns are analyzed, for example with a machine vision system. The necessary corrections may then be calculated from this analysis and applied to a subsequent full printing pass.

A color printing system includes a color management server and one or more printing devices. The color management server manages color printing resources among the printing devices. A test chart is printed at a printing device and used to capture calibration measurement data. Calibration settings are defined for the calibration measurement data. A tone reproduction curve (TRC) is generated based on the calibration measurement data and the calibration settings. The TRC is stored with the TRC settings and calibration measurement data to be used at a printing device. Various operations are performed between different TRCs. The TRC settings are edited and the TRC associated with the measurement data is updated or regenerated to reflect the edited settings. More than one TRC is updated with the new settings if it uses the measurement data.

IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM, IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD, AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-EXECUTABLE MEDIUM

An image processing apparatus includes circuitry. The circuitry acquires a first colorimetric value of a target color mixture from a chart printed out in a first state. The circuitry acquires a second colorimetric value of an adjacent color mixture and acquires a second colorimetric value of an adjacent color mixture from a chart printed out in a second state. The circuitry acquires a third colorimetric value of a pre-correction color mixture. The circuitry adds a difference between the first colorimetric value and the second colorimetric value to the third colorimetric value and calculates a predicted colorimetric. The circuitry determines whether a color difference between the predicted colorimetric value and the first colorimetric value. The circuitry acquires, as a correction value, the second gradation value corresponding to the second colorimetric value. The circuitry corrects a corresponding one of the one or more first gradation values by using the correction value.

In an example, a method includes determining, using processing circuitry, a first print coverage vector associated with an estimated colorimetry which corresponds to a target colorimetry, wherein the estimated colorimetry of the print coverage vector is based on a first color model, the first print coverage vector being optimised relative to a first metric. The method may further include determining, using processing circuitry, a predicted colorimetry of the first print coverage vector based on a second color model.

Systems and methods manage information relating to paper media to enhance the quality of printing by printers. Systems and methods efficiently maintain color management profiles for different papers and ensure that the most appropriate (e.g., optimal) color management profile is employed for color conversion on a specific paper. In particular, embodiments may employ dynamic management of data stored in paper catalogs of printing systems. As such, a paper catalog of a printer can effectively associate a paper with a color management profile that provides the best possible color reproduction on that paper.
