COLOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR APPLICATION OF COLOR TO SUBSTRATES

Methods, systems and computer readable media for color management are described. In some implementations, the method can include accessing one or more buildup curves associated with a combination of a substrate, one or more colorants and a colorant dispenser. The method can also include accessing a design file specifying a design and including one or more layer files each specifying a layer color. The method can further include generating, for each layer color, a corresponding colorization recipe based on the one or more buildup curves. The method can also include creating a production job instruction/metadata file having a link to the design instruction/metadata file and including parameters associated with the colorant dispensing job to be carried out using the design instruction/metadata file.

A first provider for providing a printer, a second provider for providing a print medium, a client which performs printing on the print medium using the printer, and a management section for processing and storing information are coupled to each other via a network. The first provider provides the second provider with a provider printer and a profile preparation tool. The second provider executes a process of preparing a profile corresponding to a combination of the provider printer and the print medium using the same, and transmitting printing setup information including the profile to the management section with respect to one or more print media. The client receives the printing setup information corresponding to the combination of the client printer used in printing and the print medium used in printing from the management section, performs setup based on the printing setup information on software for controlling the client printer and performs printing.

The invention provides an imaging apparatus for minimizing performance degradation due to sensitivity correction while ensuring absolute accuracy of luminance and chromaticity of a subject. An imaging apparatus includes: a sensitivity correction unit which corrects sensitivity characteristics of at least two imaging units to be the same; a storage unit which stores a correction parameter in the sensitivity correction unit; and a luminance calculation unit which calculates a luminance value of a subject on the basis of the correction parameter stored in the storage unit and a shutter value of the imaging unit. Here, the sensitivity correction unit corrects sensitivity characteristics of the at least two imaging units to match the sensitivity characteristic of the imaging unit having the highest sensitivity. Furthermore, the sensitivity correction unit corrects the sensitivity characteristic for each color to be a predetermined ratio and the luminance calculation unit calculates a luminance value for each color of the subject.

An image processing apparatus is an apparatus for displaying an image corresponding to a printed product observed in a predetermined observation environment on a monitor. An image obtaining unit obtains an HDR image. A lighting luminance obtaining unit obtains a lighting luminance in the predetermined observation environment. A monitor luminance changing unit changes a luminance of the monitor according to the lighting luminance. A preview image generating unit converts the HDR image according to the lighting luminance. A preview image outputting unit outputs converted image data to the monitor having the luminance thereof changed.

USING AT LEAST ONE VIRTUAL PRIMARY COLOR TO MAP IMAGE COLORS ACROSS DISPLAY TECHNOLOGIES

An illustrative apparatus maps a first color of a first image of a scene to a second color of a second image of the scene. The first color of the first image is defined by a combination of real primary colors of a first display technology. The second color of the second image is determined by mapping at least one of the real primary colors of the first display technology to at least one virtual primary color for a second display technology and using the at least one virtual primary color to define the second color of the second image. The at least one virtual primary color is different from real primary colors of the second display technology.

Web service for printer color matching via profile mapping device-independent color values of reference device to device-specific color values of production device

Web server based color management hosted by a web server is provided enabling a production device to produce a print job with a similar color appearance as a reference device. The web server receives a production device color management profile and a reference device color management profile. The web server creates an output color management profile based on the color management profile of the production device and the color management profile of the reference device. The output color management profile maps device-independent color values associated in the color management profile of the reference device to device-specific color values for colors reproducible by the production device.

Setting ink use limits for a printing system

An example method of setting ink limits for a printing system is described. The method involves printing a first set of color ramps. Each color ramp has test areas which are printed based different Neugebauer Primary Area Coverage (NPac) vectors. A test area for each color ramp is indicated that meets an image quality metric and Neugebauer Primary ink use limits are set based on these test areas. A second set of color ramps, for combinations of the set of available Neugebauer Primaries, is then printed, The test areas for each ramp are defined by monotonically-varying vector element values for one Neugebauer Primary in a combination and the second set of ramps are defined by monotonically-varying vector element values across said ramps for another Neugebauer Primary in the combination. Test areas are then indicated again for the second set of color ramps to set ink use limits for the printing system.

Closed loop color calibration with multiple inline imagers

Production methods and systems enable the inline production of instant lottery tickets or documents using at least three different digital imagers. By interfacing at least three digital imagers in a common printing line, heretofore unknown printing efficiencies are realized, particularly on smaller volume print runs. These methods and systems enhance the overall appearance of the printed instant lottery tickets or documents, as well as potentially expand the consumer base.

Examples herein relate to monitor calibration. In some examples, monitor calibration can include a scaler processing resource and a memory resource storing machine readable instructions to cause the scaler processing resource to record, by a sensor included on a monitor, color measurements of the monitor in response to receiving record instructions from an external computing device, transmit the recorded color measurements to the external computing device, receive calibration instructions from the external computing device based on the recorded color measurements, and calibrate the monitor using the calibration instructions received from the external computing device.

Matching surgical display technologies using virtual primaries

A virtual primaries transform controller maps a color of a first pixel in a scene received from an imaging pipeline to a color of a second pixel, which is displayed on a monitor. The first color and the second color are the same color. The direct mapping performed by the controller assures that the colors of pixels displayed using two different display technologies are identical.
