Grey level-based page turn adjustment

A content item to be displayed via a display of an electronic device may be associated with a first set of grey values or a set of color values. The electronic device may generate, maintain, or at least have access to one or more mappings that map the set of color values and/or the first set of grey values to a second set of grey values. Based on the one or more mappings, the electronic device may convert a color value of the set of color values or a first grey value of the first set of grey values to a second grey value of the second set of grey values. The content item may then be displayed utilizing the second grey value.

Provided are a printer, a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium and a scanner-profile creation method. In a printer including a print engine, a scanner and a color measurement device, or a printing system including a printer, a scanner and a color measurement device, a controller creates a scanner profile by using RGB values and color measurement values obtained by measuring a first color chart with the scanner and color measurement device, and determines a first color gamut and a second color gamut of the printer by using one or both of RGB values and color measurement values obtained by measuring the first color chart and a second color chart, respectively, where the second color chart includes at least color patches in specific colors representing a color gamut of the printer. The controller further corrects the scanner profile by comparing the first color gamut and the second color gamut.

Rendering and displaying high dynamic range content

Methods and apparatus for rendering and displaying high dynamic range (HDR) digital image content. An HDR rendering and display system may support the rendering and display of standard dynamic range (SDR) and HDR content to both HDR-enabled and standard displays. The HDR rendering and display system renders digital image content into the HDR space and maps the rendered HDR content into the display space of HDR or standard displays using display processing techniques that may preserve at least some of the HDR content even for standard displays. The HDR rendering and display system may take into account various information including but not limited to display characteristics such as size, control inputs, current image characteristics such as image brightness, and environmental information such as viewer position and ambient lighting levels to dynamically adapt the rendering and display of the digital image content according to ambient viewing conditions at the target display.

Three dimensional (3-D) look up table (LUT) used for gamut mapping in floating point format

A data segmenter is configured to determine indices using numbers of most significant bits (MSBs) of fractional values of floating-point representations of component values of an input color that are selected based on exponent values of the floating-point representations. The component values are defined according to a source gamut. The data segmenter is also configured to determine offsets associated with the indices using subsets of the fractional values. An interpolator configured to map the input color to an output color defined according to a destination gamut based on a location in a three-dimensional (3-D) look up table (LUT) indicated by the indices and offsets.

Printers can be desirably color matched irrespective of whether or not a specified color is a color in the gamut range. A client device 100 determines by a gamut range evaluator 232 whether or not a specified color is a color in the gamut range, which is the range of colors a second printer 50 can reproduce; causes a color chart data generator 235 to generate image data for producing a color chart referenced to the specified color when the specified color is a color in the gamut range; and causes the generator to select a color on the gamut surface based on the specified color when the specified color is a color outside the gamut range, and generate the image data to create the color chart referenced to the selected color.

DISPLAY DEVICE, IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHODS THEREOF, AND DISPLAY SYSTEM

Provided is a display device that illuminates a printed material taking into consideration the characteristics of the printed material. The display device obtains an image for illuminating the printed material, and information pertaining to the optical characteristics, such as light reflectance or transmission, of the printed material. Then, on the basis of metadata pertaining to a luminance or color of the obtained image and the obtained information, the display device controls a light source illuminating the printed material. Through this, the display device enhances the dynamic range or the color gamut of the printed material.

PRINT CONTROL APPARATUS AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

A print control apparatus that realizes printed matter that appears suitably in a case of observation by reflected light and in a case of observation by transmitted light is disclosed. The print control apparatus, based on data of a source image, generates first print data to be used for printing to a first surface of a recording medium. The print control apparatus also, based on data of the source image, generates second print data that is used for printing to a second surface that is different to the first surface and that represents a higher luminance range, in a luminance range that the data of the source image represents, than a luminance range that the first print data represents.

System for luminance qualified chromaticity

A test and measurement device is described that has an input for receiving a selected image, a display output, and one or more processors configured to receive a maximum and minimum luminance value related to the selected image, and generate a chromaticity diagram of the image on the display output for only those pixels in the selected image that have luminance values between the maximum and minimum luminance values. The device may also generate a modified image from the selected image in which pixels from the selected image that fall within the maximum and minimum luminance value are reproduced in the modified image without modification and other pixels not within the maximum and minimum luminance value are modified. Methods are also described.

Automatic post processing of spot color combinations for a constrained colorant set

According to exemplary methods, a processor of a printing device determines color values out of a first colorant combination using marking materials for standard colorants and marking materials for one or more extended gamut colors. The extended gamut color has colorants other than the standard colorants. Responsive to the first colorant combination including color values for each of a pair of two complementary colors, the processor calculates a second colorant combination that produces the same human-perceivable color as the first colorant combination. The second colorant combination includes only one color of the pair of two complementary colors. The printing device produces output using the second colorant combination for the standard colorants and the extended gamut color.
