Caption extraction and analysis

Methods and systems are disclosed for real-time metatagging and captioning of an event and caption extraction and analysis for such event. The method for the real-time metatagging and captioning and caption extraction and analysis of an event may include embedding metatag information in a caption file provided by a captioner. The embedded and/or extracted metatag information may allow a user to access additional information via the text of the captioned event. Data, words, or phrases can be provided by the captioner during captioning or, post-captioning, extracted from the one or more segments of the caption transcript. Metadata based on said providing and/or extracting is provided. The metadata is stored in a metadata archive, where the metadata is associated with the caption transcript.

It becomes possible to satisfactorily perform subtitle display in the reception side.

A container of a predetermined format is transmitted, the container including a video stream including video data and a subtitle stream including text information of a subtitle, the text information including subtitle display position information for specifying a subtitle display position as a relative position with respect to a subtitle display range. Auxiliary information is inserted, into a container of the subtitle stream, to be used when the subtitles is displayed by using subtitle position information. For example, the auxiliary information is information regarding resizing processing, information for determining a subtitle display range, and the like.

An object is to make it possible to perform caption display satisfactorily in a case where the caption display position is designated as a relative position.

The video stream is decoded to obtain video data, and the subtitle stream including the caption information is decoded to obtain bitmap data of the caption. The caption display position in the caption display position information included in the caption information is designated as a relative position with respect to the caption display range. In a case where the aspect ratio of the video area is different from the aspect ratio of the display video area, the caption display position is determined with the display video area defined as the caption display range, further resize processing is performed, and the display position control is performed onto the bitmap data of the caption on the basis of the caption display position that has undergone the resize processing. Bitmap data of the caption that has undergone display position control is superimposed on the video data to obtain display video data.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING VOLUME
20190028079 · 2019-01-24 ·

Systems and methods provide a solution to a common nuisance of loud background noise encountered when watching television, allowing the issue to be solved with little or no user interaction. Systems and methods automatically modulate device volume based on background noise level. The systems and methods record a background level of noise, and if that background level of noise increases, the systems and methods automatically increase the content volume which had been set by the user. Exceptions are made for brief sounds or for viewer conversations.

A process load for displaying a subtitle in a reception side is reduced. A video stream including encoded video data is generated. A subtitle stream including subtitle text information, which has display timing information, and abstract information, which has information corresponding to a part of pieces of information indicated by the text information is generated. A container in a predetermined format including the video stream and the subtitle stream is transmitted.

Closed captioning management system

Media content typically includes closed captioning information such as subtitled in domestic and foreign languages. Techniques and mechanisms provide that closed captioning information may be toggled on/off using menu options and preferences as well as automatically managed by intelligently monitoring the environment surrounding a device. Device sensors such as microphones and vibration monitors determine the noise level of an environment as well as the spectral characteristics of the noise to determine whether the noise profile would interfere with the video playback experience. A particular environmental noise profile could automatically trigger the display of closed captioning information or present an easy access, otherwise unavailable toggle to display closed captioning information associated with a video stream.
