Systems and methods for light field modeling techniques for multi-modulation displays
Dual and multi-modulator projector display systems and techniques are disclosed. In one embodiment, a projector display system comprises a light source; a controller, a first modulator, receiving light from the light source and rendering a halftone image of said the input image; a blurring optical system that blurs said halftone image with a Point Spread Function (PSF); and a second modulator receiving the blurred halftone image and rendering a pulse width modulated image which may be projected to form the desired screen image. Systems and techniques for forming a binary halftone image from input image, correcting for misalignment between the first and second modulators and calibrating the projector systeme.g. over timefor continuous image improvement are also disclosed.
PROJECTION DEVICE AND LIGHT SOURCE SYSTEM THEREOF
In a projection device and a light source system thereof, the light source system includes a light source module, a driver, and a control circuit. The light source module includes light sources to provide beams with different wavelength ranges. According to a selection signal, the control circuit selects one of a first pulse width modulation signal, a second pulse width modulation signal, and a third pulse width modulation signal as a pulse width modulation signal to output to the driver. The driver drives the light source corresponding to the selection signal with the pulse width modulation signal provided by the control circuit.
OVERLAPPING IMAGE FIELD UPDATES IN A DISPLAY SYSTEM
An illustrative display system includes an array of pixels and a frame controller configured to cause the array of pixels to display an image frame by performing a series of successive field updates. The series of successive field updates includes a first field update in which a first write pointer circuit tracks a first traversal, during a first update period, across the array of pixels to update the array of pixels from a first to a second image field in the sequence, and a second field update in which a second write pointer circuit tracks a second traversal, during a second update period, across the array of pixels to update the array of pixels from the second to a third image field in the sequence. The second update period of the second field update overlaps the first update period of the first field update.
PROJECTION DEVICE AND PROJECTION METHOD
A projection apparatus includes a projection component, a camera device, and at least one processor in connection with the camera device and the projection component respectively. The at least one processor is configured to execute instructions to cause the display apparatus to: in response to a projection command input from a user, control the projection component to project a first graphic card onto a screen, and obtain a first image taken by the camera device for the first graphic card; cut the first graphic card in the first image to obtain a first graphic card image; perform binarization processing on the first graphic card image, and obtain a white connected region in the first graphic card image based on a binarization result; position a to-be-projected region based on the white connected region; and control the projection component to project a to-be-projected content to the to-be-projected region.
PROJECTION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DRIVING LIGHT SOURCE OF PROJECTION DEVICE
A projection device, including: a plurality of light sources having different colors; a first driving circuit configured to supply a first current to the light sources based on a first enable signal and at least one first driving signal; at least one switching circuit configured to turn on or turn off the first current supplied to the light sources based on at least one first switching signal; and a control circuit configured to supply the first enable signal and the at least one first driving signal and supply the at least one first switching signal based on light emission information of the light sources, to enable the light sources to emit light in different light-emitting periods respectively according to the light emission information, wherein the light emission information comprises a light-emitting timing sequence, a light-emitting duration and a rated current.
LASER PROJECTION APPARATUS AND IMAGE DISPLAY METHOD THEREFOR
A laser projection apparatus and an image display method of the laser projection apparatus are provided. The laser projection apparatus includes a main control chip, a display driving assembly, a laser source assembly, a laser driving assembly, a video processing assembly, a phase light modulation assembly, and a first light modulation device. The display driving assembly is configured to send a synchronization signal to the phase light modulation assembly and a first driving signal to the first light modulation device according to a video signal. The laser driving assembly is configured to send a second driving signal to the laser source assembly. The video processing assembly is configured to send a phase video signal to the phase light modulation assembly according to the video signal. The phase light modulation assembly is configured to perform phase modulation according to the phase video signal and the synchronization signal.
PULSE WIDTH MODULATION SEQUENCING IN LIGHT PROJECTION SYSTEMS USING LIGHT- RECYCLING COLOR FILTERS
In an example, a system includes a spatial light modulator, a display controller, and an illumination system that includes a color wheel having a plurality of segments to transmit light of different colors. The display controller includes a frame memory to store an image frame, and control circuitry coupled to the frame memory. The control circuitry is configurable to obtain image data representing a plurality of color components of the image frame, to produce a multi-color bit plane sequence responsive to the image data and to a parametric description of an illumination pattern on the spatial light modulator of the light transmitted from the color wheel, and to output the multi-color bit plane sequence to the spatial light modulator to control the spatial light modulator to display the image frame.
PROJECTION DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
A projection device includes a light source module including at least one light source, a light source driving circuit coupled to the light source module, and a control circuit coupled to the light source driving circuit. The light source driving circuit is configured to control a state of the at least one light source to be in an on state according to an enable signal. The control circuit is configured to provide the enable signal to the light source driving circuit, and control the number of times the enable signal is generated during a frame period according to a frame rate of a first image signal. During the frame period, a product of the number of times each of the at least one light source receives the enable signal and the frame rate of the first image signal is greater than or equal to a reference value.
PULSE WIDTH MODULATION SEQUENCING IN LIGHT PROJECTION SYSTEMS USING LIGHT-RECYCLING COLOR FILTERS
Pulse width modulation (PWM) sequencing in light projection systems configured with light-recycling color filters. In an example, a method includes: extracting, using control circuitry, from an image frame, image data associated with a color component of the image frame; producing, with one or more processors of the control circuitry, a bit plane sequence responsive to the image data; and outputting, by the control circuitry, a plurality of copies of the bit plane sequence, respective copies of the bit plane sequence being output at respective time intervals with a time delay between successive time intervals. In this manner, a staggered (e.g., delayed with respect to one another over time) set of bit plane sequences is produced which can be converted to signal format (e.g., PWM signals) and provided to a spatial light modulator in synchrony with movement of color transitions across the spatial light modulator.
