A surgical sutures package includes a base having top and bottom surfaces, an outer periphery, and a longitudinal axis. An outer wall extending upwardly from the periphery has inner and outer surfaces and a top, the inner surface including bulges extending from the base top surface. An inner wall extending upwardly from the base top surface has inner and outer surfaces and a top. There is a suture channel cover having top and bottom surfaces and an outer periphery having a profiled surface corresponding to the profiled base outer wall inner surface. A cover outer edge opening forms a suture port having first and second ends. The suture track area to retain suture is formed between the outer wall inner surface and the inner wall outer surface of the base. The cover has a central recessed area having an outer periphery corresponding to the base inner wall inner surface.

APPARATUS FOR CLOSING A SURGICAL SITE

A suturing device includes a body configured to be inserted into a surgical site of a patient. A suture retainer is positioned within the body and configured to receive a suture so that an end of the suture extends from the body and is accessible within the surgical site of the patient.

Suture storage devices, systems, and methods

Devices, systems, and methods are provided for managing suture filaments when performing soft tissue repair. One exemplary embodiment of a surgical suture management device is in the form of a suture loop management card. The card can generally be configured to hold open a collapsible loop of suture until a force applied to the loop is greater than a threshold tension. The card can include a number of different features that help to keep the loop open until the threshold tension is achieved, including features designed to prevent the filament from being mistakenly offloaded. The card can be configured to be removably inserted into a handle of an inserter tool for use as a surgical tissue repair system. Other devices, systems, and methods for performing soft tissue repair are also provided.

NEEDLE HARVESTING DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A suturing system including an elongate distal member, an elongate proximal member proximal the elongate distal member, and a needle guide disposed between the elongate distal member and the elongate proximal member. A plurality of needles with a needle tip of each needle of the plurality of needles are orientated generally proximally toward a single opening in a distal end of the elongate proximal member. When the needle tip of each of the plurality of needles is at least partially disposed within the single opening, a portion of each needle of the plurality of needles, proximal a distal end of the needle guide, being radially separated by a distance less than a diameter of the elongated proximal member.

An apparatus for suturing tissue. The apparatus comprises shaft mounted jaw mechanism and a housing (containing mechanical components) mounted on the proximal portion of the shaft. The jaw mechanism comprises two pivoting jaws, each with reversibly lockable needle end openings, each configured to receive and exchange a curved needle and attached suture between the jaws in response to force applied to control mechanisms on the housing. The jaw mechanisms are controlled by locking rods and a jaw open-shut control rod that extends between the jaws and the housing. The housing contains spring loaded click cam mechanisms, often comprising a dual hollow cylindrical cam inner piston cam arrangement. The apparatus is configured so that a human operator, exerting force on the same control mechanism, can both open and shut the jaws and cause the needle to be exchanged between jaws.
