An imaging unit captures a moving image containing a plurality of images in a time-series order. A position acquisition unit acquires positions at which the plurality of images are captured. An offset calculation unit calculates, as an offset, a difference between a reference value that is any of the positions at which the plurality of images are captured and each of the positions to associate the offset with the image whose position is acquired. A metadata generation unit generates, as moving image metadata that accompanies the moving image, metadata containing the reference value and generates, as image metadata that accompanies the image corresponding to the offset, metadata containing the offset, for each of the acquired positions.

A communication apparatus that communicates with an external apparatus includes a connection unit that connects to a storage medium in which image data is recorded, and a control unit that, in a case where a request for a resized image of the image data is received from the external apparatus, generates a resized image by reading the image data from the storage medium in response to the request, controls transmission of the resized image to the external apparatus, and controls generating and temporarily storing metadata of the resized image.

A method receives a video sequence including a visually perceptible item and selectively causes a display device to present the video sequence at any given time in one of a plurality of modes, including a first mode and a second mode. In the first mode, the display device presents the video sequence with a tag, which comprises information pertaining to the visually perceptible item in the video sequence. In the second mode, the display device presents the video sequence without the tag. The method receives from an input device a signal that indicates whether to present the video sequence in the first mode or the second mode, wherein causing the display device to present the video sequence in the first mode is performed in response to receiving from the input device the signal that indicates that the video sequence should be presented in the first mode.
