SYSTEMS, DEVICES AND METHODS FOR TISSUE FIXATION AND APPROXIMATING TISSUE DEFECTS
A medical device for approximating and securing tissue without requiring knots includes a lock-head, a strap section, distal protuberance, and a leader section. The device also includes a transition section between the leader and the strap section and a stiffening section proximal to the protuberance. The leader section is used to draw the strap section into the body through small apertures in tissue and the transition section provides a gradual transition in stiffness and size between the leader and the strap section.
Curled suture device apparatus and method
The present invention provides a suturing device to minimize interference and obstructions during intricate surgeries. The curled suture device is significantly shorter than traditional suturing kits by featuring a needle attached to a specially manufactured thread incorporating a stopping mechanism preceding an angular, semi-rigid portion of thread followed by a curled portion of thread arranged in a corkscrew configuration. The stopping mechanism halts the movement of the thread as the needle and thread intermediate the needle and stopping mechanism is pulled through the suture point, securing the remainder of the thread for access. The semi-rigid portion of thread is thereby utilized in conjunction with its curled portion of thread, allowing for the user's unabated access to the corkscrew configuration to form a ready-made knot, minimizing interference and obstruction during surgery. The thread may be manufactured to form an additional semi-rigid and curled portions of thread upon creation of a knot.
SUTURE NEEDLES WITH FLEXIBLE AND NON-FLEXIBLE COMPONENTS
Disclosed is a suturing needle having a thread attachment portion and a ramp portion comprising a tapered portion extending from a proximal end of the needle to cover at least a portion of a suture thread swaged in the thread attachment portion. The tapered portion of the ramp portion provides a smooth transition from a diameter of the suture thread to a diameter of the needle body. The tapered transition portion allows for engaging the suture needle on rollers of a rotational needle driver in one smooth motion. The suturing needle includes a hollow flexible extension component having a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end connected to the proximal end of the thread attachment component, and the proximal end attached to the distal end of the tapered extension ramp portion. The suturing needle can include a combination of flexible and non-flexible sections and/or a combination of straight and curved sections.
SIX-DIMENSIONAL BARBED SURGICAL THREAD AND METHOD OF USE
A six-dimensional barbed surgical thread that includes a central core and six first barbs. The central core has a circumference, a proximal end and a distal end that is opposite the proximal end. The six first barbs are positioned around the circumference of the central core so that the first barbs are radially adjacent to each other and obliquely extend from the central core.
Devices, systems and methods for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia and other conditions
Devices, systems and methods for compressing, cutting, incising, reconfiguring, remodeling, attaching, repositioning, supporting, dislocating or altering the composition of tissues or anatomical structures to alter their positional or force relationship to other tissues or anatomical structures. In some applications, the invention may be used to used to improve patency or fluid flow through a body lumen or cavity (e.g., to limit constriction of the urethra by an enlarged prostate gland).
Surgical end effectors
According to an aspect of the present disclosure, an end effector for use with a surgical device is provided. The end effector includes a drive assembly, a driver, a needle assembly and a biasing element. The driver is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the drive assembly. Rotation of the drive assembly in a first direction causes distal translation of the driver with respect to the drive assembly. The needle assembly is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the driver. Distal translation of the driver causes a corresponding distal translation of the needle assembly. The biasing element is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the needle assembly and is configured to bias the needle assembly proximally.
Suture and method for producing same
A suture according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a first barb portion, a second barb portion, and a center portion which connects the first barb portion and the second barb portion to each other. Each of end portions of the first barb portion and the second barb portion may be formed so as to face the center portion, and a hole portion including a plurality of holes may be formed in at least one of the first barb portion, the second barb portion, and the center portion. The suture may show an excellent recovery and a lifting effect to be semi-permanently maintained and may have an excellent strength.
Multi-density all suture anchor
An all-suture anchor for generating bone compression and increasing interference fixation. The all-suture anchor includes a fibrous construct which is movable between a pre-deployment configuration and a deployed configuration. The fibrous construct has a first density. The all-suture anchor also includes a monofilament woven through the fibrous construct. The monofilament has a second density, which is different than the first density. The contrasting densities (i.e., irregularities) aids in the “locking” ability of the all-suture anchor by greater purchase in hard and soft bone. The all-suture anchor can have a variety of textures, barbs, and rigidities that aid in creating irregularities within the bone surface for more secure fixation.
Sutures with External Filament Containing A Medicant
The present invention is directed to suturing systems having a needle, an elongated flexible suture having a connecting end attached to a said needle and an opposing free end and at least one elongated external beneficial filament that is attached to said needle or attached to said suture at the connecting end. The beneficial filament has a smaller cross-sectional area and lower mechanical strength than the suture and contains a medicant.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PARAURETHRAL SUPPORT RESTORATION TO TREAT STRESS INCONTINENCE
Disclosed are a system and method to implement a novel treatment to restore bilateral longitudinal parallel paraurethral support, the system comprising a trocar, and introducer, and one or more barbed suture-type devices, the components used cooperatively to implant the one or more barbed suture-type devices in the patient to provide sufficient paraurethral support to restore continence in the patient.
