System and method for managing streaming services
A gateway for location at a user premises is provided. Bother users and user devices are registered with the gateway which is provided by a service provider. Users access services, such as video streaming, on their user devices via the gateway. The gateway allows users to share content. The gateway collects information about the user's patterns of behaviour for the system provider, and can be used to directly obtain feedback from the users.
Multimedia signal processing system
A multimedia signal processing system utilizes an easily manipulated, low-cost storage and display system that allows the user to view a television program and instantly review previous scenes within the program. The invention also allows the user to store selected programs while simultaneously watching or reviewing another. A versatile system architecture enables providing the invention in multiple configurations, each adapted to receive input signals from a different source. At the highest level, the system includes an input section and an output section. Across all configurations, the output section remains substantially the same, while the input section varies according to the signal type and the source. Thus, several configurations are provided, each one requiring only minor system board modifications. The system architecture thus simplifies the design and manufacturing challenge presented by producing units to serve different markets, such as digital satellite, digital cable and analog cable.
Digital video broadcasting—terrestrial (DVB-T) system and modulation method thereof
The present invention provides a digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) system and modulation method thereof. The system comprises a transmission module and a receiving module. The transmission module modulates a video signal to a DVB-T signal. The receiving module receives the DVB-T signal via a transmission line and demodulates the DVB-T signal to the video signal, and at the same time, monitoring the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) or bit error rate (BER), and quantizes them to a reference data. The receiving module transmits the reference data to the transmission module through the same transmission line. The system can determine a control parameter according to the reference data to set the modulation parameter of the DVB-T signal.
Tuning Behavior Enhancement
A client device, which can be a set-top box or a gateway device, can be operative to continue processing content (e.g., a television program) in its pipeline, while it is requesting a different content (e.g., tuning or obtaining a targeted ad). Instead of seeing a blank screen or a muted still-shot, the user in some circumstances would be able to continue to see a segment of the processed content information.
SERVER, IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS, AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS
Provided is an image display apparatus including: a communicator configured to receive, from a server, information about an integrated frequency band corresponding to a region where the image display apparatus is located; a display; a processor; a memory; and at least one program stored in the memory and executed by the processor, wherein the at least one program comprises instructions for scanning channels included in the integrated frequency band for a channel receivable by the image display apparatus, and displaying a result of the scanning on the display, and the integrated frequency band is a frequency band determined based on frequency bands receivable by other image display apparatuses located in the same region as the image display apparatus.
Display apparatus
A display apparatus is provided, which includes a display panel, and a display driving apparatus mounted on the display panel and driving the display panel, which includes an RF modem having a first tuner for providing a broadcasting signal to the display panel.
Multi-stream premises apparatus and methods for use in a content delivery network
Apparatus and methods for enhanced tuner efficiency, wherein tuner resources function to permit multiple content streams to be demultiplexed and thus made available for subsequent display. In one embodiment, Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) comprises a resource manager on which a guide application is run to control the tuning of an available tuner resource. This approach obviate reliance on OCAP or other proprietary vendor architecture applications. In another variant, the CPE is adapted to receive RF source data from a wideband tuner, or multiple tuners. The CPE may also be utilized in conjunction with other system configurations designed to enforce a security or other policies within a premises network. The CPE may also employ ‘look ahead’ capabilities to anticipate a QAM stream content before it is received.
Packetized content stream-enabled headphone system
Novel techniques are described for enabling headphone-driven systems to handle packetized streams of next-generation television (NGTV) content. For example, a headphone system can include an antenna and a NGTV tuner to receive and decode a packetized television content stream wirelessly from a content provider via a digital television content network. The decoded stream can be processed by the headphone system to generate an audio stream and a video stream. Audio content of the audio stream can be output via an audio transducer of the headphone system. The video stream can be transmitted, via a device interface of the headphone system, to a media playback device for outputting of video content (e.g., and audio content, in some cases) of the video stream. For example, the video stream is transmitted, via a short-range wireless network to a smartphone, tablet computer, transport vehicle display, or other playback device.
RECORDING DEVICE AND RECORDING METHOD
A recording device includes a tuner, a memory, and a controller. The tuner receives broadcast programs. The memory records the broadcast programs via a plurality of recording paths between the tuner and the memory. The controller uses at least two of the recording paths to record a plurality of consecutive broadcast programs on a predetermined channel in the memory. An output of the tuner is inputted to the at least two of the recording paths.
DISPLAY APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
A display apparatus is provided. The display apparatus includes a tuner configured to receive a broadcast signal including a plurality of frames by tuning a channel, a display configured to display the received broadcast signal, an interface comprising interface circuitry configured to receive a channel change command, communication circuitry configured to receive timing information of the reference frame of the broadcast signal provided through a channel tuned according to the channel change command from an external apparatus, and a processor configured to, in response to the channel change command being received, predict timing for receiving the reference frame through the tuner based on the timing information of the reference frame received through the communication circuitry, to determine timing for performing channel tuning according to the channel change command based on the predicted timing, and to delay the channel tuning until the determined timing.
