Devices, systems and processes for facilitating seamless use of tuners across multiple devices within a local area network

Devices, systems, and processes for facilitating seamless use of tuners across multiple devices within a LAN are described and may include use of a first user device, communicatively coupled to the LAN, that includes a first hardware processor configured to execute first, non-transient, computer instructions for facilitating a first seamless tuner engine configured to identify at least one first tuner. A second user device, communicatively coupled to the LAN, may include a second hardware processor configured to execute second, non-transient, computer instructions for facilitating a second seamless tuner configured to identify at least one second tuner. At least one of, if not each, of seamless tuner engines may be configured to generate a universal tuner directory identifying availability of each the tuners. The universal tuner directory may be populated and tuners allocated based upon an emergency broadcast, auto-tune, PPV, original content, re-run, or Joey request type.

INFORMATION PROCESSOR, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND PROGRAM

[Object] To transmit information more flexibly and more reliably while allowing for user freedom.

[Solution] There is provided an information processor including an output control section that controls an output of presentation information that is performed by a plurality of output terminals. The output control section determines, on the basis of a moving path of a user, an allocation of the presentation information that is caused to be outputted by corresponding one of the plurality of output terminals. In addition, there is provided an information processing method that includes controlling, by a processor, an output of presentation information performed by a plurality of output terminals, and the controlling further includes determining an allocation of the presentation information that is caused to be outputted by corresponding one of the plurality of output terminals on the basis of a moving path of a user.

Synchronous Playback With Battery-Powered Playback Device

Example techniques related to battery-powered playback devices. In an example, a first battery-powered playback device receives audio content from a network device and forwards the audio content to a second playback device for synchronous playback of the audio content with the second playback device, plays back the audio content, detects that a battery level of a battery of the first playback device has fallen below a predefined threshold, and ceases the forwarding of the audio content after the battery level of the battery of the first playback device has fallen below the predefined threshold. After the battery level of the first playback device has fallen below the predefined threshold, the second playback device receives the audio content from the network device, forwards the audio content to the first playback device for synchronous playback with the first playback device, and plays back the audio content in synchrony with the first playback device.

Systems and methods for media content hand-off based on type of buffered data

Systems and methods are disclosed for handing off media content. A media player client receives a request to transfer a media stream, which is playing on a first media device, to a second media device. In response to determining that the second media device comprises a larger screen than the first media device, the media player content determines, based on the genre and resolution of the media stream data, whether the media stream data can be transferred, from the first media device to the second media device.

TRANSFER OF MEDIA CONTENT VIEWING EXPERIENCE USING EPG GUIDE

Disclosed are a network and method for transferring media content experience from a first smart media device to a second smart media device via an electronic program guide. Each of the smart media devices are pre-configured to have a unique name which is viewable from the electronic program guide, and to establish two way communications between the uniquely named first and second smart media devices. The electronic program guide is run on at least one of the smart media devices, and the electronic program guide is viewed on a display associated with at least one of the smart media devices. A user is provided a plurality of options to interact with the electronic program guide, including the option to transfer and view the media content experience selected on the first media device to the second smart media device. Preferably, the user selects options via voice commands or manually inputted commands.

A set-top box and a method of operating the same are provided. The set-top box, for example, may include, but is not limited to, a communication system configured to receive media content from a broadcast content source and communicate with a personal electronic device, and a media continuity system configured to receive, from the communication system, an indication that a user is watching media content through an over the top source on the personal electronic device, buffer the media content from the broadcast content source in a memory, determine, when the set-top box receives a request to play the media content, a difference between a timestamp associated with the media content as broadcast by the over the top source and the media content as broadcast by the broadcast content source, and output the media content using the buffer based upon the difference in the timestamp when the user returns home.

DISPLAY SYSTEM, CONTROL METHOD OF THE DISPLAY SYSTEM, AND DISPLAY APPARATUS

A display system for improving delivery power of content by outputting content considering a user's moving path, a control method of the display system, and a display apparatus. The control method of the display system, according to an embodiment of the disclosure, includes generating path information to be used to output contents to at least two display apparatuses of a plurality of display apparatuses based on user information; determining content-of-interest based on the user information; and outputting the determined content-of-interest to at least one display apparatus of the plurality of display apparatuses based on the generated path information.

METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND MEDIA FOR PROVIDING DYNAMIC MEDIA SESSIONS WITH VIDEO STREAM TRANSFER FEATURES

Methods, systems, and media for providing dynamic media sessions with video stream transfer features are provided. In some embodiments, the methods include: receiving an indication that presentation of the video content item is to be transferred from the first display device to a different display device; in response to receiving the indication, determining whether the first display device supports transferring the presentation of the video content item and determining whether the different display device is capable of presenting the video content item; and transmitting an indication that presentation of the video content item is to be transferred from the first display device to the different display device, wherein the video content item is played back using the different display device from a playback position that is based on the playback state from the first display device.

Novel techniques are described for location-tracked media delivery. For example, a particular consumer premises has multiple media consumption devices, each located in a different room of the premises. One or more media streams being consumed via one or more of the media consumption devices can be tracked. As one or more consumers move through the premises, their respective physical locations in the premises can also be tracked with respect to media consumption regions of the media consumption devices. By detecting movement of the consumers with respect to the consumed streams and the media consumption devices, embodiments can automatically provide various features. For example, streams can automatically be transferred or cloned among the media consumption devices, and/or streams and devices can be adapted automatically to facilitate some continued media consumption in some dead space regions.
