Apparatus and method for displaying a television video signal and data in a mobile terminal according to a mode thereof

An apparatus and method for receiving and displaying a television signal and a data signal in a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal includes a display unit with a video data display area and a user data display area. The mobile terminal determines in a standby mode whether it is set to a television mode or communication mode. If the mobile terminal is set to the television mode, it controls a tuner to select a desired television channel. The mobile terminal stores video data of a current frame received over the selected channel and user data corresponding to the selected channel in a memory unit, outputs video data of a previous frame stored in the memory unit to the video data display area of the display unit in a frame period and then outputs the user data stored in the memory unit to the user data display area of the display unit upon completing the output of the video data of the previous frame. In the communication mode, the mobile terminal stops the operation of the tuner and displays user data generated in the communication mode in the video data display area and user data display area.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RETRIEVING SEGMENTED MEDIA GUIDANCE DATA
20230171461 · 2023-06-01 ·

Systems and methods are presented for reducing network traffic when retrieving media guidance data. For example, a media guidance application receives a first user selection to display a group of media asset identifiers (e.g., video-on-demand listings) and retrieves detailed information from a remote server relating to the media asset identifiers to display to a user. The media guidance application then may receive a user selection to display a second group of media asset identifiers (e.g., purchased media assets). If any of the media asset identifiers are common to both groups, then the media guidance application already obtained the detailed information and the detailed information does not need to be retransmitted in order to be displayed. Thus, the media guidance application only retrieves detailed information for media asset identifiers unique to the second group of media asset identifiers (e.g., they are only on the purchased media asset list).

Dynamic adjustment of electronic program guide displays based on viewer preferences for minimizing navigation in VOD program selection

Items of video content offered for viewing on a video-on-demand (VOD) platform of a digital TV service provider are each assigned a respective title and hierarchical address corresponding to hierarchically-arranged categories and subcategories within which the title for the video content is to be categorized. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. The EPG dynamically adjust its display listings of each level of categories, subcategories, and titles in order to minimize the number of remote control keypresses needed for a viewer to navigate to a title of interest. In one basic form, the EPG display is reordered by listing more frequently visited categories or subcategories first, and other less frequently visited categories or subcategories lower on the listing or out-of-sight on another page of the display.

Information sharing method and device, storage medium and electronic device

Embodiments of this application disclose an information sharing method performed at an electronic device. The electronic device obtains a first instruction of a target account at a first moment for obtaining a subtitle in a target video currently played on the client and displays a plurality of subtitles on the client. The plurality of subtitles are subtitles of the target video within a target playback time period covering the first moment at which the first instruction is obtained. Next, the electronic device obtains a second instruction of the target account for information sharing determines a to-be-shared first subtitle among the plurality of subtitles, and shares at least the first subtitle with at least another account of the social networking platform. The embodiments of this application resolve technical problems in the related art that a target subtitle cannot be accurately obtained.

ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE DISPLAYING MEDIA SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS

The generation of an electronic program grid guide is described. The electronic program grid guide (1200) represents various broadcast content providers, special content providers, and recommended media assets that are available from such providers. The media assets are recommended in view of user profile information where the listed media assets and content providers can change from time period to time period when displayed in the electronic program grid guide.

LIST-TYPE CONTENT PRESENTATION DEVICE AND METHOD

A method for presenting content items to a user of a device having a network interface and a controller configured to generate a GUI, the method comprising the following steps within the device: receiving, from a data provider, content description data for a plurality of content items; receiving, from a recommendation server, recommendation data for the plurality of content items; selecting the content items that meet predefined recommendation criteria to be presented as recommended content items; and presenting the recommended content items in the form of an EPG list within the GUI to allow the user to navigate and select the content item of interest; characterized in that the EPG list has a form of a minimized list that comprises a group of cells arranged along a line as a list, wherein each cell is assigned to a particular content item depending on the recommendation score for that content item.

ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE, METHOD FOR AN ELECTRONIC PROGRAM GUIDE, AND CORRESPONDING DEVICE

An electronic program guide, EPG, comprises a first portion and a second portion. The first portion comprises a list of channels and, for each channel in the list, a list of scheduled audiovisual content. The second portion comprises a selection area or section and a first graphical element representing a time line. The selection section may be used to select scheduled audiovisual content according to a selection criterion. Second graphical elements that represent scheduled audio visual content resulting from the selection are then placed on the first graphical element. The relative position of the second graphical elements on the first graphical element is determined by chronological order.

CONTROLLING SPEED OF THE DISPLAY OF SUB-TITLES
20170311045 · 2017-10-26 ·

Applying a presentation timestamp to an element of a sequence of sub-titles. A minimum presentation timestamp T.sub.MIN of an element of a sequence of sub-titles N is initialized. The presentation timestamp T(N) of the new element of a sub-title sequence N is compared with the minimum presentation timestamp for sub-titles T.sub.MIN. The minimum presentation timestamp for sub-titles T.sub.MIN is applied to the element of a sequence of sub-titles N if the presentation timestamp T(N) of the new sub-titles element is prior to the minimum presentation timestamp for sub-titles T.sub.MIN. The minimum presentation timestamp for sub-titles T.sub.MIN for an element of a sequence of sub-titles N+1 is calculated as a timestamp posterior to the presentation timestamp T(N) of the new sub-titles element.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING POP-UP WINDOW FOR GUIDING A RERUN OF BROADCAST TO USER TERMINAL
20220060794 · 2022-02-24 · ·

A method for generating a user interface includes receiving a broadcasting request signal for performing communication with a set-top box, transmitting the broadcasting request signal to a data server, receiving a broadcast transmission time of a broadcast video outputted from the data server to the user terminal, and transmitting a pop-up window that prompts broadcast rerunning, received from the data server, to the user terminal at a designated point in time, when the broadcast transmission time satisfies a preset criterion.

Unobtrusively enhancing video content with extrinsic data

The playback of video content upon a display is enhanced through the unobtrusive presentation of extrinsic data upon the same display. A video content feature is rendered on a display. It is determined whether to present extrinsic data relevant to a current time in the video content feature based at least in part on appearance control metadata. A graphical element presenting at least a portion of the extrinsic data is rendered on the display while the video content feature is also being rendered on the display in response to determining to present the extrinsic data.
