Methods and systems are disclosed that allow a user to efficiently navigate media selections in an interactive media guidance application and easily identify media for viewing. The disclosed methods and systems provide an environment wherein video assets are displayed according to a user preference on a mosaic page with multiple cells. A subset of the assets appropriate for display in a particular cell is determined based on the user preference. Relevance scores of the assets meeting the user preference are computed, and the asset having the greatest relevance for the user is selected and displayed the corresponding cell. The relevance scores can be computed based on the user's historic viewing habits, user interaction with a media guidance application, or on specific user input.

The disclosure provides a display device and a content providing method thereof. The content providing method of the display device includes: displaying a list including a plurality of web pages pre-selected by a user; and displaying, in case that a user command for selecting one of the plurality of web pages is input, a reconstructed content obtained by reconstructing the selected web page based on a type of the selected web page.

The one or more processor may receive, from an external device, an application display request for displaying a window for an application associated with the external device, determine, upon reception of the application display request, a designated region of the screen to be used for a window presenting a mirrored screen image of the application, and display at least one application window in the remaining region of the screen identified after determining the region for a mirrored screen image.

A method for obtaining a dynamic display layout on a display area having at least one sub-area defined thereon. The method having the steps of receiving video image data from a video data source; evaluating a rule associated with each sub-area as applied to a property of the received video image data or the video data source; if the evaluating results in acceptance of the video image data by one of the sub-areas, assigning the video image data to the one sub-area; otherwise, allocating an additional sub-area on the display area, and assigning the video image data to the additional sub-area. Additionally, each sub-area is allocated according to properties of the video image data assigned to it or of the video data source from which the respective video image data is received. A computer-implemented method for traversing a video file includes populating a two-dimensional array with representative images corresponding to a portion of the video and causing the two-dimensional array to be displayed. The two-dimensional array includes a location indicator configured to traverse the two-dimensional array in a direction parallel with one dimension of the two-dimensional array in response to navigation information associated with the portion of the video. The location indicator is further configured to indicate a position in the video by highlighting one of the representative images populating the two-dimensional array. Because an end-user is provided with a large set of statically displayed representative images during navigation of a video timeline, the end-user can visually identify a desired target scene, even when traversing a the timeline relatively quickly.
