Mosaic focus control
A television receiver may be configured to receive, from a user of the television receiver, a set of viewing rules that define a focus preference of the user. The television receiver may output, to a presentation device, a video mosaic comprising a plurality of pieces of content presented as a plurality of tiles. Each piece of content may be linked with a corresponding audio stream from a plurality of audio streams. The television receiver may select a piece of content for focus from the plurality of pieces of content based on the set of viewing rules defined by the user. The television receiver may output only an audio stream linked with the piece of content being focused on from among the plurality of audio streams.
Information descriptor and extended information descriptor data structures for digital television signals
According to an aspect, there is provided a digital television (DTV) data stream including program and system information protocol (PSIP) data associated with content of the DTV data stream, the PSIP data including a virtual channel table (VCT) and an event information table (EIT), the EIT comprising: a source identification field identifying a source of an associated event in a DTV data stream; an event identification field indicating an identification of the event; a start time field indicating a star time of the event; a title field indicating a title of the event; and a descriptor comprising: a descriptor tag identifying the descriptor as a genre descriptor; a descriptor length indicating a total length of the descriptor; and at least one category code for an associated event in a DTV data stream, each category code specifying genre, program type, or category information of the associated event, wherein the at least one category code specifies at least one of a set of basic categories.
Receiving device, receiving method, and program
Disclosed herein is a receiving device for receiving an AV content broadcast by a broadcasting wave, including: an obtaining section adapted to obtain a description document described in a predetermined computer language for displaying another content different from the AV content; a determining section adapted to determine whether the obtained description document is managed by a broadcaster which broadcasts the AV content or is managed by a different operator other than the broadcaster; and a controlling section adapted to control execution of the obtained description document in response to a result of the determination by the determining section.
Verification of Semantic Constraints in Multimedia Data and in its Announcement, Signaling and Interchange
A collection of well-formed, but possibly semantically invalid, binary encoded multimedia data components or packages as well as the binary encoded announcement, signaling, and interchange protocols used in their transmission are converted into one or more well-formed extensible markup language (XML) files. Such XML files may then be validated according to one or more pre-defined XML schemas, or similar schema languages, in order to verify that the data and protocol structures and substructures adhere to prior defined semantic constraints.
Video-on-demand and targeted advertising
A method and apparatus for aggregating the data for a plurality of individualized programs into a single channel, and allocating the channel bandwidth as-needed for provision of short video programs on an on demand basis, so that the total bandwidth required to provide the individualized channels and associated video clips is substantially reduced. Also provided is a real-time, single-user-targeted individualized advertising associated with the viewer selection that personalizes the user's iTV experience. The advertisements are targeted in real-time based on an immediate interest revealed by the user in a search request for content. Short duration videos are provided so as not to over-tax the individualized on demand channel's limited bandwidth.
User Selection of Software Components in a Television Set-Top Box
A method for allowing user selection of interactive video software components in a television STB operatively coupled to a video content network includes the steps of: affording the user a selection of interactive video software components to run on the set-top box; and loading selected interactive video software components onto the set-top box. The selected interactive video software components are delivered from a remote node over the video content network to which the STB is coupled.
Audio information signal supporting interactive interconnected system
The invention relates to an information association technology supporting a cross-media product, in particular to an audio information signal supporting an interactive interconnected system. The signal is formed by audio data and associated data synthesis. The interactive interconnected system comprises an electronic reading device and an electronic transmitter-receiver. The associated data is a preset Uniform Resource Identifier. The electronic transmitter-receiver is provided with an associated data reception circuit, an associated data transmission circuit and a central processing unit (with memory). The associated data reception circuit is equipped with a short-distance signal transmission-reception circuit. The electronic transmitter-receiver is mainly configured to control transmit-receive of the associated data of a decomposed multimedia information signal, receive the associated data decomposed by a transmission circuit of the electronic reading device, transmit the associated data to an external information data storage center via a remote wireless technology, and quickly call out an associated electronic file.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DELIVERING APPLICATION CONTENT TO A COMPUTING DEVICE
Systems and methods are provided for delivering application content to a computing device via a carousel of a unidirectional stream. An application identifier is received, at a computing device and via a carousel of a unidirectional stream, and content associated with an application identified by the application identifier is received via the carousel. It is identified that the application is installed at the computing device, and the received content is stored at a memory associated with the computing device. A notification associated with the application is output, and an input associated with the notification is received. The received content is generated for output via the application.
Methods and devices for inserting an event into a transport flow, for monitoring, managing and receiving the transport flow, and computer program all corresponding thereto
Methods and devices for inserting an event into a transport flow, for monitoring, managing and receiving the transport flow, and computer program all corresponding thereto. The invention relates to a method for monitoring a transport flow at the output of an equipment of a broadcast network, implementing at least one iteration of the following steps: obtaining (61) the transport flow delivered by said equipment, detecting (62) a current event packet associated with content carried by said transport flow, said event packet carrying a synchronization header comprising: reference time information defined with respect to a reference clock of said content; a desired delay between said current event packet and a reference packet of said content identified based on said reference time information, determining (63) an offset between an actual position of said current event packet in said transport flow and a desired position of said current event packet in said transport flow, determined based on said reference time information and on said desired delay, called processing offset.
