A cassette is disclosed for use in a prosthetic suturing device. The cassette has a base. The base has a pair of pivots, a pair of alignment tabs, and at least one retention latch. The cassette also has a cover coupled to the base. The cover has at least one retention latch. The cover also defines one or more ferrule holders. The cassette further has one or more needles guided by the base and the cover. A surgical suturing device is also disclosed for use with a cassette. The suturing device has a cassette receiver and one or more needle drivers, each needle driver having a needle receiver positioned within the cassette receiver.

Stitching device with long needle

A needle for use with an endoscopic stitching device includes a first end portion that is movable relative to a second end portion to allow the needle to convert from a first, mis-aligned orientation to a second, aligned orientation, thereby allowing the length of the needle in the aligned orientation to exceed the height of an end effector.

Suture passer devices and methods

Devices, systems and methods for passing a suture. In general, described herein are suturing devices, such as suture passers, as well as methods of suturing tissue. These suture passing devices may include dual deployment suture passers in which a first distal jaw member is moveable at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the elongate body of the device and the second distal jaw member is retractable proximally to the distal end region of the elongate body and/or the first jaw member.

Endoscopic stitching device having angled suture needle

A surgical stitching device includes a suture needle configured to reliably pass through a typically thick scarred tissue present along, e.g., an edge of midline hernias. The surgical stitching device includes first and second jaws. The suture needle is selectively supported on the first or second jaws at, e.g., an acute, angle with respect to a longitudinal axis defined by the corresponding first or second jaw. The suture needle may be selectively secured with the first or second jaw by first and second needle receiving blades configured for reciprocating axial displacement. A suture is connected to the suture needle to perform suturing of tissue.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR LOADING AND/OR UNLOADING SUTURE AND/OR A SHUTTLE

A device is disclosed that can load a suture and/or a shuttle into a device. The device can have a suture and/or a shuttle that can be moved (e.g., via a loader control) from a non-loaded configuration to a loaded configuration without damaging the suture or the shuttle.

Surgical devices and methods for achilles tendon repair

An Achilles tendon repair that provides a minimally invasive surgical procedure that requires at least two medical devices comprising: at least one fascial elevator separator and at least one suture passer elevator separator with a paddle guide that assist with repair of Achilles tendons wherein a fascial elevator separator paddle guide that has a U-shaped portion at a distal end provides separation of a Paratenon from an Achilles tendon and also provides a surgical plane along a designated length of the Achilles tendon that eliminates a possibility of damage to either the Sural Nerve or Saphenous Vein. The suture passer elevator separator also provides for precise placement of multiple locking sutures along the medial and lateral free edge if the Achilles tendon which allows even tensioning of the surgical repair.

Surgical instrument comprising an adaptive electrical system

A surgical instrument system is disclosed comprising a handle, an elongate shaft selectively attachable to the handle, a battery pack replaceably attachable to the handle, and an end effector extending distally from the elongate shaft. In various instances, the battery pack comprises a power source couplable to the motor and a display. The elongate shaft comprises a processor and a memory couplable to the processor. In various instances, the memory comprises a control program which, when executed, causes the processor to initiate a desired function. In various instances, the end effector comprises a sensing circuit configured to detect a condition of the end effector. The sensing circuit is in signal communication with the processor.

Suturing device

A suturing device with built-in needle-transfer of a double-ended needle has a first jaw element with a first needle lock device for retaining and releasing a first end of the needle; a second jaw element with a second needle lock device, wherein the jaw elements are movable between an open and closed position; and a needle-transferring mechanism for alternately transferring the needle from one of the jaw elements to the other when the jaws are moved from the open to the closed position. The needle-transferring mechanism includes a first rotatable wheel connected to the first needle lock device, the first wheel having a first wheel inner portion rigidly connected to a first wheel outer portion and a second rotatable wheel connected to the second needle lock device, said second rotatable wheel comprising a second wheel inner portion rigidly connected to a second wheel outer portion.

SUTURING WITH AN ENDOLUMINAL GASTROPLASTY DEVICE

Suture clips configured to be placed in a predetermined path of a suturing needle that advances through a device inserted to a body cavity, and remotely operated from that position to secure and clamp suturing. In some embodiments, a suture tightening device is placed in the predetermined path and configured to capture the suture and shorten a length of tissue-engaged suture by pulling on the suture. In some embodiments, sensors are placed along the needle path and used to provide an indication of needle position and/or status.

Endoscopic needle assembly

An anchor and suture assembly is provided for use with an endoscopic suturing device with a needle holder arm. The anchor assembly includes an anchor tip and an anchor body. The anchor tip has a blunt end that may be rounded or beaded, a capture groove, a tab groove and a plug portion positioned between the capture groove and the tab groove. The anchor body has first and second ends, tip tabs, retainers for removably retaining the anchor body relative to the needle holder arm, and a suture opening. The anchor tip is fixed relative to the anchor body by plastic deformation of the tip tabs into the tab groove. A suture extends into the suture opening of the anchor body and is fixed therein.
