IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF
An image display device includes: a processor; a memory configured to store channel information corresponding to at least one channel; and at least one program which is stored in the memory and executed by the processor. The program may include instructions for controlling a display so as to move a channel indicator in a first or second direction on a channel scroll bar and to display channel information of a channel corresponding to a point at which the channel indicator is located, in response to a first input of pressing a channel-up or channel-down key for a long time, and for switching a current channel to the channel corresponding to the point at which the channel indicator is located and displaying an image corresponding to the switched channel, in response to a second input of releasing the channel-up or channel-down key.
Locating points of interest using references to media frames within a packet flow
In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving a stream of transport packets encapsulating media packets, and generating a reference to the point-of-interest media packet relative to the location of the point-of-interest within the transport packet stream. The reference is generated for each media packet that is identified as a point-of-interest.
TV and operating method therefor
Provided is an operating method of a TV for allocating a dynamic channel for content transmitted from an outside. The method includes: receiving a first content from the outside; generating a dynamic channel for the first content; displaying a channel change guide according to the first content reception; entering the dynamic channel according to a first channel change input; displaying a playback screen of the first content according to the dynamic channel entry; and exiting from the dynamic channel according to a second channel change input, wherein the dynamic channel is formed of a channel that is the closest to a recent broadcast channel.
APPARATUS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REDUCING TIME REQUIRED FOR A MEDIA CONTENT EVENT CHANNEL CHANGE
Systems and methods of a media device are operable to perform a channel change operation. An exemplary embodiment receives a first data table from a data table server, wherein the first data table comprises first control information used to perform a channel change operation such that the media device reconfigures itself to change to a new channel from a currently presenting channel or to a new media content event from a currently presenting media content event. The exemplary embodiment later receives a second data table after initiation of the channel change operation, wherein the second data table is broadcast to the media device in one of a plurality of received broadcasting media content streams that has the new media content event, and wherein the second data table comprises second control information that corresponds to at least some of the first control information used to perform the channel change operation.
MULTI-MODE CONVERSION OF MULTIPLE VIDEO STREAMS
A technique is described for converting a variety of video streams from transmission sources into a single designated video stream on a client device. As an example, a converter device may receive video streams from multiple transmission sources and select the video stream to convert and output on a client device based on the signal quality. In some examples, the converter device may switch between transmission sources. The converter device may measure the time offset between the video streams of the transmission sources and buffer one of the video streams to align the timing of the video streams, so the user does not detect a timing delay while viewing the video content.
METHOD FOR MANAGING THE READING OF A DIGITAL CONTENT ITEM WITHIN A MULTIMEDIA CONTENT READER TERMINAL CONNECTED TO A RENDERING DEVICE
A method for managing streaming of a digital content item within a multimedia content reader terminal, from a communication network. The multimedia content reader terminal is able to be a content source of a rendering terminal. The rendering terminal has a plurality of selectable digital content sources. The method includes the following steps which are executed when the content reader terminal is selected as digital content source, called first source: detecting, during reading of a first content item by the reader terminal, selection of a source, called second source, other than the first source; reading and rendering a second content item originating from the second source instead of the first content item; and the detection step triggering a step of modifying the operation of the reader terminal in connection with the reading of the first content item.
ALLOCATING STREAMING CONTENT ON A HYBRID NETWORK
Allocating streaming content on a hybrid network can include searching for streaming content broadcast via broadcast signals over a broadcast network as a communications device is receiving the streaming content via a cellular network. Responsive to identifying, based on the searching, a within-range broadcast source broadcasting the streaming content via broadcast signals, the communications device can begin receiving the streaming content via the broadcast signals over the broadcast network and cease receiving the streaming content via the cellular network.
DIGITAL BROADCAST RECEIVING DEVICE AND RELATED RECEIVING METHOD
A digital broadcast receiving device includes a multi-channel tuning device, a first de-multiplexing device, a second de-multiplexing device. The multi-channel tuning device includes a plurality of locking devices, wherein the locking devices are arranged to lock a broadcast signal at a plurality of frequency points, and respectively output a plurality of data streams that correspond to the frequency points. The first de-multiplexing device includes a plurality of first de-multiplexing units, wherein the first de-multiplexing units are respectively associated with one of the locking devices and arranged to respectively buffer data units in the data streams that correspond to specific types. The second de-multiplexing device is coupled to the first de-multiplexing device and includes a plurality of second de-multiplexing units, wherein the second de-multiplexing units are arranged to respectively buffer data units that are buffered by the first de-multiplexing units and correspond to specific channels.
Low latency streaming media
Methods and systems for discovering or tuning-in to near live or current playlists used to stream media content, particularly for live events during which the media content is streamed. The methods and systems can reduce the time required to tune-in to such live events. In one embodiment, a client device can receive an age data in a header of a message that returns a first playlist that was requested by an unattributed playlist request from the client device. The age data can be used to determine how many partial media segments to skip to tune-in to the live event.
START-UP PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT FOR REMOTE COMPUTER APPLICATION
A method for remotely provisioning resources for running a computer application is described. The method includes: causing, using one or more processing units, an initialization of a user interactive video portion of a computer application, the computer application being executed using a remote server; determining a runtime of a static video portion of the computer application and a time required to complete initialization of the user interactive portion using information provided by the remote server; and delaying a start time of displaying the static video portion when the runtime of the static video portion is shorter than the time required to complete the initialization of the user interactive portion. A device that is capable of performing the above method and a server are also described.
