Prediction-Based Dropped Frame Handling Logic In Video Playback
In some embodiments, a method receives playback information for a plurality of representations based on one or more videos being played at a media player. The plurality of representations have at least one different characteristic that affects playback of the video. A dropped-frame measurement is predicted for the plurality of representations based on the playback information. Then, the dropped-frame measurement is compared to a threshold for the plurality of representations. The method marks a first set of the plurality of representations as not being available based on the comparing. A second set of the plurality of representations are provided to the media player when the media player requests a video for playback and the first set of the plurality of representations for the video are blocked from being requested by the media player.

A technique for generating encoded video in a client-server system is provided. According to the technique, a server determines that reprojection analysis should occur. The server generates reprojection metadata based on suitability of video content to reprojection. The server generates encoded video based on the reprojection metadata, and transmits the encoded video to a client for display. The client reprojects video content as directed by the server.

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for presenting subtitle data during media asset fast-access playback operations. Specifically, the system may detect initiation of a fast-access playback operation during playback of a media asset and identify consecutive frames to be displayed during the fast-access playback operation that have associated subtitle data. The system may combine the subtitle data associated with the consecutive frames into a display arrangement and generate for display, with each consecutive frame, instead of the associated subtitle data, the display arrangement.

Multiple video segments may be obtained from a repository of video segments. A selection of a video segment from the multiple video segments may be received. The selected video segment may be presented at a first resolution via a display. The frame set may include multiple frames, including one frame corresponding to the selected point in time, and other frames that correspond to points in time adjacent to the selected point in time. A selection of a single frame within the frame set may be received. The single frame may be received having a second resolution. The second resolution may be higher than the first resolution. The single frame may be presented via the display.

A computing system identifies a media stream being received by a client, based on fingerprint matching conducted with query fingerprints generated by the client at a frame rate. The computing system then causes the client to increase the frame rate, in order to facilitate establishment by the computing system of synchronous lock between true time within the media stream and client time according to a clock of the client. The computing system then uses the established synchronous lock as a basis to map a true-time point at which a content revision should be performed in the media stream to a client-time point at which the client should perform the content revision. And the computing system causes the client to perform the content revision at the determined client-time point.

The present disclosure provides a method and apparatus for automatically synchronizing a first stream of media data with a second, and outputting a third by decoding the streams into channels, splitting the channels into a plurality of piecewise segments defined by control points that the control points with the same index are to be synchronized in time across all the channels, automatically and intelligently adjusting the length of the media data in each segment in an optimal and hybrid manner using a linear or non-linear digital signal processing algorithm, synchronizing and mixing all the processed segments, and outputting the final mixed and encoded data stream. Specifically, one of the media data is video and the other is audio or a translation voice in a different language. With a controlled minimized distortion, one can achieve faster post-processing speed and optimal synchronization quality, therefore save both time and cost for video language localization services.

After adopting the above method, the display provides a picture with full screen without having black edges or small black edges to enhance the visual experience.
