Systems and methods for performing a task on a material, or locating the position of a device relative to the surface of the material
Systems and methods of the present disclosure relate generally to facilitate performing a task on a surface such as woodworking or printing. More specifically, in some embodiments, the present disclosure relates to mapping the surface of the material and determining the precise location of a tool in reference to the surface of a material. Some embodiments relate to obtaining and relating a design with the map of the material or displaying the current position of the tool on a display device. In some embodiments, the present disclosure facilitates adjusting, moving or auto-correcting the tool along a predetermined path such as, e.g., a cutting or drawing path. In some embodiments, the reference location may correspond to a design or plan obtained from obtained via an online design store.
Image forming apparatus for adjusting image forming position
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a display, a reading unit configured to read a reference image formed on a test sheet by the image forming unit, wherein the reference image includes a mark corresponding to a reading order, a controller configured to control the image forming unit to form the reference image, cause the reading unit to execute a first reading operation, determine whether first read data is obtained, inform of a reading error if the first read data is not obtained in the first reading operation, cause the reading unit to execute a second reading operation, determine whether second read data is obtained, and inform of a reading error if the second read data is not obtained in the second reading operation, and an adjustment unit configured to adjust image forming positions based on the first read data and the second read data.

Real-time linefeed measurement of inkjet printer
Regarding an image forming apparatus for printing an input image and including a print head having a head sensor configured to sense information from the input image printed on a print medium, there is a method of determining a head sensor position parameter in the image forming apparatus. The method includes printing a first swath of the input image on the print medium and determining the head sensor position parameter by performing a sub-method. The sub-method includes capturing, via the head sensor, a target image from the printed first swath, comparing the target image to a reference image for the first swath based upon the input image, and determining the head sensor position parameter based on a relative shift between the target image and the reference image.

Printing system control
A method and system of controlling at least one printbar in a printing system are described. The printing system has one or more of printbars distributed along a media transport. A first image including a reference pattern is generated on a print medium with a first printbar. A pattern is then detected on the print medium. The reference pattern and the detected pattern are used to determine a position of the first image relative to a second printbar. This position is used to configure nozzle data for a second image to be generated on the print medium by the second printbar.
Printer with two scanners
A printer (300) is disclosed. The printer has two scanners (336, 338) in the paper path of the printer located after the print zone (346). The two scanners are spaced apart from each other by a known distance A and overlap each other in a direction perpendicular to the media axis of travel. The two scanners capture a first and second image of the media.

Printing system control
A method and system of controlling at least one printbar in a printing system are described. The printing system has one or more of printbars (160, 190) distributed along a media transport. A first image including a reference pattern (240A, 240B) is generated on a print medium (150) with a first printbar (160). A detector (180) then detects a pattern on the print medium. The reference pattern and the detected pattern are used to determine a position of the first image relative to a second printbar (190). This position is used to configure nozzle data for a second image to be generated on the print medium by the second printbar.
Scanner and production method for printing apparatus
A scanner include a scan section configured to intermittently move and perform an intermittent scan, a stop-state analyzing section configured to compare a stop-time image obtained by a scan of an identification pattern on a medium in a stop position where the movement of the scan section temporarily stops and scan results before and after the stop and determine, based on a comparison result, whether the medium moved, and a scan control section configured to cause the scan section to suspend the temporarily-stopped intermittent scan when the medium moved and cause the scan section to continue the temporarily-stopped intermittent scan when the medium did not move.
