A cartridge assembly includes a cartridge channel, a support plate, a staple cartridge supported within the support plate and the cartridge channel, and compression members. The compression members are supported on support flanges of the support plate between the staple cartridge and the cartridge channel to facilitate movement of the staple cartridge in relation to the cartridge channel to accommodate tissue of different thicknesses.

Linear stapler with adjustment mechanism

This application provides a linear stapler with an adjusting mechanism having wider adjusting scope and more suitable pressing force and being more convenient to operate, and including an adjusting shift lever with at least one step surface on each of upper and lower ends, an adjusting slider with multiple step surfaces on an end surface close to the adjusting shift lever, and an adjusting chassis having multiple step surfaces on an end surface close to the adjusting shift lever. The adjusting shift lever rotates with a shifted adjusting knob to generate relative displacement vertical to the step surface with the adjusting slider at one end and relative displacement vertical to the step surface with the adjusting chassis at the other end, and drive a nail abutting seat subassembly to rotate relatively to a nail bin seat, until the thickness of clamped tissue is consistent in near and far ends.

Surgical stapling systems

A method is disclosed. The method can comprise obtaining a first staple cartridge and obtaining a second staple cartridge, wherein the first staple cartridge and the second staple cartridge comprise the same length and the same width. The method can further comprise inserting the first staple cartridge into a channel comprising a keyed profile, wherein complete insertion of the first staple cartridge into the channel is prevented by the keyed profile. Additionally, the method can comprise inserting the second staple cartridge into the channel, wherein complete insertion of the second staple cartridge into the channel is permitted by the keyed profile.

STAPLE CARTRIDGE COMPRISING A STAPLE DRIVER ARRANGEMENT

A staple cartridge for use with a stapling device that has an actuator that is selectively actuatable in an axial direction and an anvil portion that is selectively movable between open and closed positions is disclosed. Various embodiments of the present invention include a cartridge body that movably supports first and second staple drivers. The staple drivers each support a staple thereon and serve to drive the staples into forming contact with the anvil upon actuation by the actuator. The various embodiments of the present invention enable the final formed heights of the staples to be varied so as to apply various clamping forces and pressures to soft tissue captured within the staples. In at least one embodiment, the staples can include crowns formed thereon which can be utilized to adjust or control the clamping force and/or pressure applied by the staples.

A compression gauge cartridge for use mounted in a cartridge bay of a cartridge jaw member of a surgical stapler instrument to compress a tissue consistently to a predetermined thickness and measure a reactionary load therefrom comprises: a cartridge body; a force gauge assembly comprising a force transducer and a compression head having a tissue compression ace, wherein the force gauge assembly is supported by the cartridge body, and wherein the compression head is configured and disposed so that the tissue compression face thereof lies substantially closer to the tissue contacting surface of the anvil jaw member than the tissue supporting surface of the cartridge body; and a spacer member extending from the tissue supporting surface of the cartridge body, wherein the force gauge assembly is positioned distally with respect to the spacer member.

Surgical RFID assemblies for compatibility detection

A control system for a surgical instrument. The control system comprises an RFID scanner and a control circuit coupled to the RFID scanner. The control circuit is configured to receive data from RFID tags associated with devices, determine whether the devices are compatible based on a comparison of the received data, and provide an alert that the devices are incompatible or a suggestion to replace one of the devices with a replacement compatible device.

Surgical tool assemblies with closure stroke reduction features

A surgical tool assembly that includes a surgical end effector that has first and second jaws that are movable between a fully open position and a fully closed position relative to each other. A proximal closure member is configured to move through a first closure stroke distance upon application of a closure input motion thereto. A closure reduction linkage operably interfaces with the proximal closure member and a distal closure member such that when the proximal closure member moves through the first closure stroke distance, the closure reduction linkage causes the distal closure member to axially move through a second closure stroke distance that is less than the first closure stroke distance.

Staple forming pocket arrangement to accommodate different types of staples

A surgical stapling system is disclosed. In various embodiments, the system comprises a staple cartridge attachment portion, a first staple cartridge configured to be operably attached to the cartridge attachment portion, wherein the first cartridge comprises a plurality of first staples comprising first staple legs, and a second staple cartridge configured to be operably attached to the cartridge attachment portion in lieu of the first cartridge, wherein the second cartridge comprises a plurality of second staples comprising second staple legs, and wherein the second staples are different than the first staples. The system further comprises an anvil comprising a tissue-engaging surface and a plurality of forming pockets defined in the surface, wherein each pocket comprises a first landing zone configured to receive a leg of a first staple of the first cartridge and a second landing zone configured to receive a leg of a second staple of the second cartridge.
