The present invention relates to a protection system for printed documents using steganographic and computer vision, materialized by the use of portable devices, where ETCODE encoded images are generated for this purpose. This method was created in order to ensure the document's authenticity, integrity of information, store information about authorship and copyright protection of printed documents. The protection method described in this patent is to generate an encoded image ETCODE using steganographic techniques, to be printed with the document, using conventional printers, and also that the decoding is performed by a digital camera portable device, obtaining therefore the information hidden in ETCODE, and then confronted with the information about the document in its digital version present in a database, thus fulfilling the proposal document protection.

The unique identifier is generated without relation to a product. The method is implemented with a system including one or more printing devices, one or more recording devices and one or more activation devices communicating with the centralized system.

A method, system, and processor-executable software for processing images or video captured by a smartphone or other digital image capture device for subsequent validation and authentication captures not only the image, but also metadata relevant to the authenticity of validity of the image, such as position, time, camera movement and orientation, image parameters, and so forth. A document verification system may verify modification to a physical document through digital image processing. Imaging sensors capture images of a modified physical document. A digital image processing circuit measures pixel parameters for a plurality of regions of the digital images for comparison to a verification pattern to verify the document.
