User equipment (UE) service over a network exposure function (NEF) in a wireless communication network

A wireless communication network serves User Equipment (UEs) over a Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Network Exposure Function (NEF). The wireless communication network comprises a non-3GPP Interworking Function (IWF) and the 3GPP NEF. The non-3GPP IWF receives NEF Application Programming Interface (API) calls that have UE data from the UEs over non-3GPP access nodes. The non-3GPP IWF transfers the NEF API calls that have the UE data to the 3GPP NEF. The 3GPP NEF receives the NEF API calls that have the UE data from the non-3GPP IWF. The 3GPP NEF exposes the UE data to an Application Functions (AF) in response to the NEF API calls.

UE return after call continuity procedure

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a technique for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE). The UE moves from a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second RAT to maintain continuity of a call and takes one or more actions involving a third RAT to speed a return to the first RAT after the call has ended in the second RAT.

Circuit-switched and multimedia subsystem voice continuity with bearer path interruption

The present invention maintains calls during transfers between different types of subsystems, even when there is a bearer path interruption at the user element due to the original connection from the transferring-out subsystem being dropped before the new connection in the transferring-in subsystem is established. The call signaling leg toward the remote endpoint of the remote party is held, while the call signaling leg toward the user element is moved from the transferring-out subsystem to the transferring-in subsystem and a new bearer path is established via the transferring-in subsystem. During transfers with a bearer path interruption, a portion of the bearer path leading to the remote endpoint may be connected to a media resource function, which will provide an announcement to the remote party. Once the user element is accessible in the transferring-in subsystem, the bearer path is further transferred to the user element via the transferring-in subsystem.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANAGING BEARER DURING X2 HANDOVER

The disclosure relates to a communication scheme and system for converging a 5.sup.th generation (5G) communication system for supporting a data rate higher than that of a 4.sup.th generation (4G) system with an internet of things (IoT) technology. The disclosure is applicable to intelligent services (e.g., smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car or connected car, health care, digital education, retail, and security and safety-related services) based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology. A mobility management entity (MME) and a bearer management method of the MME during an X2 handover in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes receiving, from a source base station, a response message related to a radio access bearer (RAB) of a network and including information indicating whether the X2 handover is triggered, starting a timer based on the response message, and resuming, based on an expiration of the timer, a procedure for managing the RAB of the network with a target base station.

Method And Apparatus For Measurement Report Enhancement In Mobile Communications
20190327630 · 2019-10-24 ·

Various solutions for measurement report enhancement with respect to user equipment and network apparatus in mobile communications are described. An apparatus may initiate a voice or video call with a network node. The apparatus may determine whether Single Radio Voice Call Continuity before alerting stage (bSRVCC) is supported by the network node. The apparatus may cancel a transmission of a measurement report to the network node before an alerting stage when the bSRVCC is not supported by the network node. The apparatus may perform the voice or video call with the network node.

Methods And Apparatus For Selecting Large-Bandwidth Cell In Mobile Communications

Various solutions for selecting large-bandwidth cell with respect to user equipment and network apparatus in mobile communications are described. An apparatus may measure a first cell. The apparatus may measure a second cell. The apparatus may add an offset value to a measurement report of the second cell. The apparatus may transmit the measurement report of the second cell to a serving cell. A second bandwidth of the second cell may be greater than a first bandwidth of the first cell.

Service enablement based on access network

In some examples, an anchoring network system (e.g., PCSCF) of a telecommunications network can receive first data requesting a network service (e.g., eSRVCC) from a network terminal (e.g., UE). The anchoring system can determine that the network service is not supported in an access network to which the terminal is connected. The anchoring system can determine second data that does not request the predetermined network service, and transmit the second data to a core network system (e.g., SCSCF). In some examples, an application server can retrieve location information (e.g., LAC) of the terminal and determine that the service is not supported based on the location information. In some examples, an anchoring network system can remove a network-service system (e.g., ATCF or SCCAS) from a signaling chain associated with the terminal. In some examples, the terminal can determine whether SRVCC is supported based on an attach result.

Quality of experience aware multimedia adaptive streaming
10455404 · 2019-10-22 · ·

Technology to provide quality of experience aware multimedia streaming is disclosed. In an example, a server operable to provide hyper-text transfer protocol (HTTP) adaptive streaming, can include computer circuitry configured to: determine a bandwidth available to the server for transmitting HTTP adaptive streaming content to a plurality of clients; receive HTTP requests from the plurality of clients for representations offered by the server in a manifest file for the HTTP adaptive streaming; and calculate an availability of each representation that is offered in the manifest file for the server. The availability can be calculated, at least in part, based on the determined bandwidth. The availability of each representation can be communicated from the server to the plurality of clients.

Apparatus and method for communicating voice data in a wireless network

An apparatus that uses a method for processing handover by a terminal linked to a wireless network included in heterogeneous wireless networks and conducting a voice call service is provided. The method includes determining whether the terminal is required to perform handover of another wireless network included in the heterogeneous wireless networks, and upon determining that the handover is required, performing handover to the another wireless network, wherein the handover is determined by applying at least one handover condition to each of predetermined operation modes in the terminal conducting the voice call service.
