AUTO-DISCOVERY OF NEIGHBOR RELATIONSHIPS AND LIGHTING INSTALLATION SELF-MAPPING VIA VISUAL LIGHT COMMUNICATION
20170026119 · 2017-01-26 ·

Networked intelligent lighting devices may utilize visual light communication to perform autonomous neighbor discovery, for example, as part of a map generation process. Individually, each intelligent lighting device within an installation transmits a series of packets via visual light communication for receipt by one or more of the other intelligent lighting devices. Receiving intelligent lighting devices record the number of received packets from each transmitter. Records of numbers of received packets are conveyed via a data communication network to a centralized process. The centralized process utilizes the conveyed records to determine neighbor relationships between lighting devices, for example to generate a map of devices as located within the installation.

A detection executing method comprises: a current control chip initially configuring all ports in a strong pull-down mode, so as to initiate detection procedures as follows; the current control chip detecting a level status of each port thereof, and when detecting a port with a high level status, identifying the port as an upstream port electrically connected with an upstream control chip in the communication link, and configuring other ports to be in a weak pull-up mode; the current control chip detecting the level status of each of the other ports, and when detecting a port with a low level status, identifying the port as a downstream port electrically connected with a downstream control chip in the communication link; the current control chip outputting a high level through the downstream port thereof, for driving the downstream control chip connected with the downstream port to execute the same detection procedures.

UPDATING A DATABASE OF LIGHT SOURCES OF A LIGHTING SYSTEM

The present inventive concept relates to a lighting system and a method for updating a database of light sources of a lighting system, each entry of the database correlating a light source ID of a light source of the lighting system with an associated location of the light source. The method comprising: receiving a light source ID from a light source communicatively connected to the lighting system; comparing the received light source ID with entries of the database; upon the database lacking an entry corresponding to the received light source ID: requesting the light source associated with the received light source ID to initiate a change of state, monitoring for a sensor signal indicative of an occurrence of the change of state among sensor signals of light sensors distributed in locations served by the lighting system, thereby determining a location of the light source associated with the received light source ID, and adding an entry to the database, the added entry correlating the received light source ID with the determined location of the light source.

Method and system of configuring an illumination system of a building

Disclosed are a method (1) and a system (2) of configuring an illumination system (3) of a building. The method (1) comprises: determining (10) a configuration of the illumination system (3) in dependence of a building layout and a device control configuration; and remotely commissioning (13) one or more installed illumination devices (31) of the illumination system (3) in accordance with the determined configuration. Methods and systems for commissioning devices
12439500 · 2025-10-07 · ·

A method and system for auto-commissioning devices within a system. The auto-commissioning processes utilize a commissioning algorithm to assign weighted values to each device based on their locations relative to a selected primary device. Any device arranged at a sharp angle with respect to the primary device, e.g., at a right angle with respect to the primary device, at a mid-angle with respect to the primary device, or within a threshold value of a right angle or mid-angle with respect to the primary device is assigned the weighted value. In the commissioning processes described herein, devices assigned the weighted value are commissioned to the system. Once commissioned to the system, and as the devices are assumed to be arranged in a pattern that approximates a grid pattern, each device is snapped to a visual grid displayed to the user.
