Temporary embolic protection device and medical procedure for delivery thereof
A medical procedure for positioning an embolic protection device effectively prevents material from entering with blood flow into side branch vessels of the aortic arch. The protection unit is permanently attached to a transvascular delivery unit at a connection point at a support frame that is at least partly arranged at a periphery of a selectively permeable unit. In an expanded state of the device, the connection point is enclosed by the support member or arranged at said support member.
Single lumen microcatheter for executing plugs near distal terminus of lumen
Micro-catheters and embolic agents offer better results in endovascular treatment of brain arteriovenous malformations. Using said micro-catheters and embolic agents generally requires the creating of a plug at the distal-most portion of said micro-catheters which regularly results in suboptimal results. The present invention teaches how to create and use a device which creates a plug downstream of the distal-most portion of said micro-catheters and thereby ameliorates the suboptimal outcomes associated with creating a plug at the distal-most portion of said micro-catheters.
PROJECTING MEMBER WITH BARB FOR CARDIOVASCULAR DEVICES
A medical implant including an expandable framework configured to shift between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration, the expandable framework comprising a plurality of interconnected struts defining a plurality of cells; and an occlusive element connected to the expandable framework and having an inner surface and an outer surface. The expandable framework may include a plurality of securement members projecting from the plurality of interconnected struts. One of the inner surface or the outer surface of the occlusive element may be in contact with the plurality of interconnected struts, and the other of the inner surface and the outer surface not in contact with the plurality of interconnected struts may lie against an opposing surface of each of the plurality of securement members. A tip portion of the plurality of securement members may not extend radially outward of the plurality of interconnected struts.
Vessel Occluder
A vessel occluder used to occlude blood flow within the vasculature is described. The vessel occluder can include an expandable mesh portion having a flexible membrane that expands within a cavity of the expandable mesh portion. When expanded, the flexible membrane blocks blood passage through the mesh portion.
Systems and methods for permanent female contraception
Medical devices and methods for treating and occluding a female patient's fallopian tubes to provide permanent birth control or sterilization.
ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
The disclosed artificial insemination system comprises a cervical plug, catheter, and positioning tool. The cervical plug comprises a shield configured to cover an orifice, an arm attached to one side of the shield that is operable to be inserted into the cervical canal, and an insert member on the other side of the shield. A bore disposed within the cervical plug and extending through the insert member, shield, and arm is operable to receive the catheter used to deposit the semen sample. The positioning tool comprises a handle with a stem extending longitudinally therefrom and terminating at a bracket that is operable to receive the insert member and catheter and assist in preventing the cervical plug from becoming dislodged when the catheter is removed. A further object of this invention is the process by which the disclosed system is used to increase the efficacy of artificial insemination.
Temporary embolic protection device and medical procedure for delivery thereof
A collapsible embolic protection device prevents material from entering with blood flow into side branch vessels of the aortic arch. The device has a protection unit including a selectively permeable unit that prevents embolic material from passage with a blood flow into a plurality of aortic side branch vessels at the aortic arch.
VASCULAR OCCLUSION AND DRUG DELIVERY DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
Embodiments of the present disclosure comprise occlusion and drug delivery devices and methods. One aspect of the disclosure comprises a drug delivery device comprising an inner expansion member and an outer drug delivery component. Another aspect of the disclosure comprises bioabsorbable, lumen-occluding implants.
Patulous eustachian tube stent
A system effectively narrows a patulous Eustachian tube (ET) of a patient with a guide catheter, instrument, and insert. The guide catheter includes a shaft, a lumen and a distal end configured to provide access the ET when the guide catheter is inserted into a head of the patient. The instrument comprises a shaft. The insert comprises a body configured to radially expand and retract between a non-expanded state and an expanded state. The insert is sized and shaped to be received within the first lumen when in the non-expanded state and is operable to expand to the expanded state to substantially reduce an effective diameter of the ET.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR EXCLUDING THE LEFT ATRIAL APPENDAGE
Devices and methods for occluding the left atrial appendage (LAA) to prevent blood from clotting within the LAA and subsequently embolizing, particularly in patients with atrial fibrillation. A foam implant encapsulated with a tough thromboresistent membrane is placed via transvascular means into the LAA and anchored with adhesives and/or mechanical anchors. Tissue over- and in-growth are optimized to anchor the implant in place and provide a permanent occlusion.
