Devices and methods for excluding the left atrial appendage
Devices and methods for occluding the left atrial appendage (LAA) to prevent blood from clotting within the LAA and subsequently embolizing, particularly in patients with atrial fibrillation. A foam implant encapsulated with a tough thromboresistent membrane is placed via transvascular means into the LAA and anchored with adhesives and/or mechanical anchors. Tissue over- and in-growth are optimized to anchor the implant in place and provide a permanent occlusion.
Devices, systems, and methods for treatment of intracranial aneurysms
Systems and methods for treating an aneurysm in accordance with embodiments of the present technology include intravascularly delivering an occlusive member to an aneurysm cavity and deforming a shape of the occlusive member via introduction of an embolic element to a space between the occlusive member and an inner surface of the aneurysm wall.
METHODS AND DEVICES FOR TREATMENT OF VASCULAR DEFECTS
Methods of implanting a device in the lumen of a blood vessel are described. The method includes providing a microcatheter and a device. The device includes a first hub, a second hub, a support structure including a plurality of struts disposed between the first hub and the second hub, and a layer of material disposed over the plurality of struts. The support structure has a low profile, radially constrained state with an elongated tubular configuration suitable for delivery from a microcatheter. The support structure also has an expanded state, a smooth outer surface, and has an axially shortened configuration relative to the radially constrained state. The microcatheter is advanced to a region of interest within the blood vessel. The support structure is advanced through the lumen of and out the distal end of the microcatheter where it expands to the expanded state.
MEDICAL DEVICE DELIVERY MEMBER WITH FLEXIBLE STRETCH RESISTANT DISTAL PORTION
A delivery member is provided for delivering and deploying an intravascular medical device. The delivery member includes a flexible distal portion including a wound wire coil surrounded by a flexible sleeve and inhibited from extending lengthwise by a stretch resistant member positioned through the lumen of the coil. The delivery member can include hypotubes positioned on either side (distally and proximally) from the wound wire coil to which the stretch resistant member and the wound wire coil can be attached.
EMBOLIZATION MICROCATHETER FOR DELIVERY OF BEADS TO PERIPHERAL VESSELS
An embolization microcatheter for embolization of peripheral arteries including an elongated tubular member comprising a distal end having a length of 150-500 mm and an outer diameter of less than 0.8 mm, wherein the elongated tubular member comprises a multiplicity sections, each having a length of 5 mm -150 mm, wherein a wall of each of the multiplicity of sections comprises a braid, a polymer formed around the braid and an inner liner coating an inner surface thereof; wherein the polymer of the multiplicity sections differ; and a distal tip having a length of 1 mm - 3 mm and extending between a proximal end of a first radiopaque marker of the elongated tubular member and a distal end opening of the elongated tubular member; the wall of the distal tip is devoid of braid.
Apparatuses and methods for delivering powdered agents
An apparatus for delivering a powdered agent into a subject's body may include a first passage for receiving a pressurized gas. The apparatus also may include a container housing a powdered agent. The container may be in fluid connection with the first passage. At least a portion of the pressurized gas is introduced into the powdered agent in the container to fluidize the powdered agent. The apparatus also may include a second passage for receiving the powdered agent from the container. In a first configuration of the apparatus, the second passage may not be in fluid connection with the container. In a second configuration of the apparatus, the second passage may be in fluid connection with the container. The apparatus may be configured to transition between the first configuration and the second configuration.
Polymer particles
Biodegradable, cross-linked polymer particle embolics and methods of making the same are described. The particle embolics can be used as embolization agents.
COMBINATORIAL THERAPIES INCLUDING IMPLANTABLE DAMPING DEVICES AND THERAPEUTIC AGENTS FOR TREATING A CONDITION AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE
Devices, systems, and methods for combinatorial treatment of a condition with an implantable damping device and therapeutic agent (e.g., drug) are disclosed herein. Methods for treating one or more effects of the condition, such as a neurological condition, include providing the implantable damping device and at least neck one other therapy, such as a therapeutic agent, that treats the condition to the patient. The implantable damping device includes a flexible damping member and an abating substance and can be placed in apposition with a blood vessel. The flexible damping member forms a generally tubular structure having an inner and an outer surface, the inner surface formed of a sidewall having a partially deformable portion. The abating substance is disposed within the partially deformable portion and moves longitudinally and/or radially within the partially deformable portion in response to pulsatile blood flow.
POLYMER PARTICLES
Biodegradable, cross-linked polymer particle embolics and methods of making the same are described. The particle embolics can be used as embolization agents.
Microspheres containing therapeutic agents and related methods of use
Microspheres, compositions including the microspheres, and methods of using the microspheres are disclosed herein. The microspheres can be substantially spherical and can include a copolymer of a monomer (such as an acrylic monomer) and a cyclodextrin or a derivative thereof. The microspheres can also include a therapeutic agent, such as a platinum-based drug.
